Old...cramped...not very clean...no hot breakfast...doesn't sound like a typical AmericInn, does it? We have stayed at several AmericInn's and were always happy until we stayed at this one. I was drawn in due to the fact that we could get a room with a view of the lake...that was the only thing good I can say about it.
We could hear everything in the lobby all night, including children running up and down the hall until almost midnight. Their idea of a complimentary breakfast was cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels and coffee...no eggs, no sausage, no waffles...not what we were used to at AmericInn.
The microwave in our room had to have been from the late 70's. and the old scratched wet bar type of cabinet it was sitting on was an eyesore. I felt like I was staying in the $19.95 highway traveler discount hotel, but instead we had to pay $124.95 because it was an October weekend and there were no vacancies at any other hotels in the area. The carpet was scary enough in our room that I didn't take my socks off, and the tile floor in the TINY bathroom was not properly cleaned either. Noisy refrigerator woke us up too.
We complained by phone when children were still running in the hall at 11:30pm, they did take care of that. The next morning, when we went to the desk, and the clerk inquired about our stay, we said it was awful. The clerk offered her apologies, but it felt like she was used to that and she did not seem at all surprised nor embarrassed to hear it.
So, take our advice and don't stay there if you would like a restful, relaxing fall weekend get-a-way.
