“Excellent place to stay for the price.”

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at the great value we received for the low price of this hotel. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and there was a good selection of cable channels on TV. The room was quiet and the heater provided a soothing background noise for our sleep. There was a funny smell when we turned the heater on (which we could smell all down the hallway, since everyone else was turning their heaters on, too), but it quickly dispersed and was fine after that. The breakfast was quite good and the lobby/seating area was gorgeous. They had a good selection of foods, including fruit, hard-boiled eggs, and various cereal/bread products. I thought the French toast that could be reheated in the toaster was especially clever. The employees were very pleasant and friendly. When I filled out a survey after the visit and mentioned one of their energy saver light bulbs in our room had taken quite awhile to come on, I got a personal email back from the manager, saying they had replaced that bulb and appreciated my feedback. We would definitely return to this hotel if we were staying in this area again.

“Micro Everything?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Microtel Inn and Suites Inver Grove Heights was clean and the bed was comfortable. For that I will give it the 3 stars. The 2 were lost with me because everything was micro. I understand the rooms are small. That is part of the sell. What I was not expecting was the micro breakfast room and micro investment in sound proofing. When I checked in I needed to go looking for the clerk. When found, they were polite and efficient. They mentioned the breakfast and pointed to the lobby. Sure enough, there was a small corner counter and 4 - two person tables. When we came down the next morning there were 30 people trying to get a breakfast. We grabbed what we could and ate in the room. Not a good experience.
The second concern was the noise. I expect some in a 3 floor 63 room hotel, but wow! It was not just the noise outside. I was not prepared for the way the micro room and proximity to the air and fridge would amplify the sound. This is just me but the click and then a hum of the fridge sounds just like my alarm clock starting up at home. It was waking me up all night.
On the positive side, there was a fridge and microwave. The TV was small but it’s placement on top of the wardrobe was convenient. They have an elevator and the location was convenient in town.

Room Tip: If you want to be close to the elevator pick a room close to 11-12.

Thank you very much for your review of our hotels. Our housekeepers are the best, and will
surely appreciate your kind words about the cleanliness of your room. Yes, we are a bit small;
many of our guests like the "coziness" of their rooms, and visit us whenever they are in the area. And we are aware of the size of our breakfast area, and its limitations. On the night you
were a guest, we were nearly full. Most days, we don't have too much of an issue with the
number of guests in the breakfast area at the same time. We are continuing to find new options and ways to improve our breakfast. As an economy hotel, we strive to keep our costs
down. Most of our guests would rather have a lower rate, than increased options for breakfast.
We hope to see you again!

“Not as described”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

Service was good. Room was quiet except for neighboring room (could hear conversation - they were talking in normal voices!, husband kept checking his phone - "No honey, that's the phone in the neighboring room, vibrating!) yucky stain on window seat - fabric didn't look like it could be washed. $25 dollar pet fee. Stay at La Quinta Inn in Bloomington when traveling with dog and toddler! The worst - they treated the lawn with chemicals but did not have a sign in the front. Our dog didn't get sick, thankfully. Breakfast was OK. Location was fine. Not a kid or pet friendly place, however!

Thank you for your review of our hotel. We do appreciate it and do appreciate your business.
I have spoken to the landscape company that cares for our lawn. They have confirmed that
there were here on August 25 and that four signs were placed that indicated that the area had been chemically treated and to keep pets and children off until August 26. I was told two were placed at the front of the building and one at each of the other two exits. I have asked them to place additional signs when using herbicides or fertilizers in the future. Thank you.

“Super Clean, Friendly, Safe Area - Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

Price was great even adding the pet fee (we were here for dogshow) it was worth every penny to stay in a clean, quiet, comfortable hotel. Staff friendly & accomodating. We had mini-suite & it was fantastic! Friends stayed at hotel a little closer to the Washington Fairgrounds, but it looked like a no-tell motel with paper thin walls according to them, & not so clean. For the simple 20 minute drive this was great! Felt quite safe in area out pottying dogs and lugging all the dog show "stuff". Continental bkfst in a.m. & coffee was good! I'd stay here in a heartbeat again & will try the Microtel if available the next time we go to an out-of-town show! Well done! No restaurant, but penty nearby and even just across parking lot. Don't know if there was a pool - we were too tired to care after competing all day.

Room Tip: Check the mini-suite!
