“Welcomed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

The staff member who checked us in made us feel very welcome, and was extremely accommodating.
We had a King suite, which was very spacious, and we appreciated the microwave and mini fridge.
Great lighting in the room, and at the mirror.
Being so close to the EP mall is handy; this location is also quiet yet close to the freeway.
Be aware that there is no elevator (just a lift) so you'll be carrying your luggage up/down stairs.

“Just O.K.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

O.K. this is an aging property that is starting to show its wear around the edges. Rooms are small but comfortable and I had nice cold A/C which is appreciated in August in Minnesota. The room was clean enough but not having an elevator and having a basement along with three levels does making hauling suitcases and luggage up stairs a pain. Breakfast is pretty nominal but given the attractive price point and the nice location the mall and plenty of restaurants I would consider staying here with my family. Fitness room was about what you would expect for an aging property and the business center is a PC stuck under a stairwell. Kind of strange. Alright but not spectaculor.

“Small, old and not impressive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

We stayed here with 2 adults and 2 cats. The room was VERY small, overstuffed with useless furniture and the internet was quite slow. The AC was inadequate and the room was always very humid. Breakfast was substandard since there was only bagel/muffins or a giant waffle, with juice and coffee and cereal. No eggs/meat. The location was great, the fact that they allowed pets was great ($10 per pet per night). The staff was very nice. But we were on 2nd floor and there was no elevator. The pool was inside, and very small. They had a fitness center made out of an old hotel room. We never used it. The hours were limited as well. We stayed a here a week because they were less expensive and took our animals. We might have changed hotels if our trip wasn't pre-paid through an online agency that would have charged us to change.

Room Tip: Good for animals and a very short stay (like one night)

“Good Hotel for this Price Point”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

This a perfectly fine hotel for it's price point. There are no bells and whistles - it's a place to sleep in a convenient location. The hotel was very clean if a bit shabby, and we found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. Our room had a refrigerator and was fairly spacious contrary to some other reviews. We stayed in room 222. Hotel is very close to the Eden Prairie Center mall. Lot's of restaurants in the area.

“Nice location, bad luck”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

We picked this location since it was situated well for our needs. It's a small building (blink and you will miss it driving by) but has all the usual features you would need. We particularly liked the closeness to a great mall nearby and several decent eateries as well.

We did however have a few issues with our room. I can't be sure if somebody previous had smoked in the room (it was a non-smoking room) but it smelled like it. The room condition was also a bit worn, particularly in the bathroom. I should point out however that there was some renovations been done to the hotel on a room by room basis (new furniture etc) so it's good to see they are working on it.

We had a chance to try the pool and made good use of it; it is a bit small but we were lucky to be the only ones in there when we used it. Again, things were looking a bit worn (ie. stained surfaces etc.) but not so much that I wouldn't use the facilities.

The host was very friendly (can't say the same for the female worker though). He greeted us each time we saw him and was very professional in our dealings. When we had an issue with noise (discussed below) he was apologetic and attempted to solve the problem.

Now on to our "bad luck". It seems there was a large group travelling together and they all decided to "party" in the room next to ours. This exposed the paper-thin nature of the walls and we ended up getting no sleep at all. Even after asking for them to keep it down the noise continued. We realize that this is just a matter of timing and will not always be an issue, however better room construction would have dampened the noise somewhat.

The big crowd also had another undesireable side effect; the breakfast area was totally dominated by this group (which included people not staying at the hotel) and there was no seating available, not to mention any food other than cereal. We elected to get breakfast somewhere else.

Verdict; bad luck made this a poor stay for us, but I think without those issues our opinion would have been that this is a reasonable location to stay.

Room Tip: Don't stay on the ground floor.
