“The Caneel Bay Plantation or Kapalua of Minnesota.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2009

My wife and I have returned to Fair Hills every year since 1984 only missing a couple years due to work. Fair Hills is Summer Camp for the whole family and you are made to feel like family, especially upon your return. You may partake of anything "Summery," whether paddle boating, swimming, canoeing, fishing, sailing, power-boating, water-skiing, golf (on their 9-hole Executive course or across the street at Wildflower - championship prarie course). Or you may just relax with a good book and swing in a hammock.

By the way, my wife and I have lived in Virginia all this time, so it is a bit of a trek for us to get there, but it's always worth the trip.

Highly recommended!

“Memories for a Lifetime!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2008

I have been going to Fair Hills since I was a kid. I love everything about this resort. This place is something that I am going to take my own kids to someday. The place is very well managed. The staff is the some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. There are plenty of activities on site and the pool area is great. The individual cabins are very clean. When you book your cabin you have the option of cooking your own meals or having them prepared for you in a dining hall. I would recommend getting a cabin for you to make your own meals. It definitely makes the price of your vacation more affordable. Also visit the pizza restaurant Zorbas which is about 10 minutes away! Wow, good Nachos!

Try Fair Hills once, and you will have memories to last a lifetime!

“A Hit Once Again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2008

This was my 33rd year going to this resort and I consider it my summer home for a week. The Minnesota weather is a nice break from the Oklahoma heat. Besides this, Fair Hills offers something for everyone. Food is great! Play golf, play tennis, swim in the pool (snack in the cool :)), take a dip in the lake - you'll never run out of things to do. Activities for the kids in the morning and afternoons open up these times for the adults and the kids have a blast doing them. You must try this place - but be prepared to get hooked!

“Fair Hills Rocks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2007

Once again we had a wondeful stay at Fair Hills. Last year we came during a quiet time and really enjoyed it. This year we went in July and absolutely loved it!

We ahve 3 girls (ages 3, 7, 8), they have been writing to their pen pal from last year and are already bugging me abotu when we are going back.

And just to warn you - the 3 year old is already practicing for next year's talent show.

“22 years and counting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2007

I was talking with my kids (one a first year teacher who will be teaching summer school, the second in college in CA and taking summer school) about this summer, for it seems complicated to try to go back this year to Fair Hills, and they both said yes, they want to juggle their schedules if at all possible to go back. For my family, it's 22 years straight, and a summer week at Fair Hills has become a part of life they count on and value highly. And I agree since I've been taking them..
I was curious to see what others who are looking for a summer vacation place in the Upper Midwest and hear about Fair Hills would see on travel sites about Fair Hills. I checked this site and ended up deciding to write a review reflecting our experiences. Fair Hills is a great place for a family vacation. It's family owned and run, with a personal touch. Friendly, helpful staff and guests--it's a cheery place. We are busy all week, and the time really flies. We have gone other places where there are kitchen facilities, and found we spent a lot of our time shopping for groceries, cooking, and cleaning up. Who wants to do that--it's work, not vacation. At FH, we get away and relax, with 3 hearty meals a day with plenty of choices, and maid service.
When the kids were younger, they could take off after each meal with their friends and go play, and we didn't worry about them, for the resort is self-contained and safe. They learned to play golf and tennis at FH, to kayak, to water ski, and to sail. Guests stay in cabins, without TVs (which is fine for us since there are organized activities morning, afternoon, and evening for kids and adults). And since we have come back the same week of the summer every year, we see mostly the same people every year--it's a community reunion.
If someone wants to know what we really think, all they have to know is that we have come back every year for 22 years, and are looking forward to our week there this summer. We highly recommend Fair Hills.
