We recently stayed at this hotel during Memorial Day weekend. It was great from the start, as they gave us a call when they had a cancellation. We were treated by friendly staff at registration, and were welcomed with a clean, good-sized room. Other family members were also staying there, and they were also happy with the rooms and service.
In the morning, we had the continental breakfast, and the hostess, Donna, was so friendly and welcoming, that everyone was impressed and entertained by her personality. She kept the food items replenished and the area was so clean. We have been in hotels where this area is usually a pit by the end of the breakfast time.
I also left a make up bag in the room, and after a phone call when we returned home, they were happy to mail it to me.
We would definitely stay again. And as far as the noise of the train, we were on the other side, but we always bring a small fan to drown out any outside noise. Works like a charm and we slept great.

We reserved a night's stay online in Detroit Lakes on our travel to be with family in North Dakota. A somewhat unfriendly and "too busy" front desk person checked us in to a very unclean room. The last guests' snacks and wrappers were still under the bed. Mirrors and glass were not clean. Most bothersome were the very loud trains whose tracks were less than a block from the hotel about every half hour all evening and all during the night and morning until we checked out. We were glad to have earplugs. Other guests at breakfast told us you just leave your TV on all night!! When checking out, staff didn't even ask how our stay was--just see ya! We won't stay again.

Large clean rooms, nice lobby, friendly staff. Nothing much around outside the door but if all you need is a clean room this would do just fine.
