I cannot rate this hotel anything less than excellent because it far exceeded my expectations. No, this is not a 5-star hotel, but the value is definitely worth a 5-star review. My sister and I booked a very last-minute trip to Chanhassen, MN to see a Prince concert at Paisley Park, which is in Chanhassen about two or three blocks from the hotel. We booked on a Friday for a one-night stay on Saturday. We flew in from Chicago Saturday morning and arrived at the hotel later that afternoon. I had never stayed at a Holiday Inn, so I had no idea what to expect beyond a hopefully clean night's rest.
The hotel is fairly new, so everything was clean and fresh. The room was great. I have stayed at several more expensive hotels, but the rooms in this hotel outpace them by a mile. The room felt more like a suite than a standard room. It was roomy. We had double beds, a large flat screen television, a desk and two chairs. The beds were queen-sized, clean and comfy. The bathroom was roomy as well.
The staff was wonderful. They didn't know Prince was giving a concert up the street, but soon realized it as the hotel filled up with many out-of-town concert goers. The staff made sure people had transportation to Paisley Park and offered all kinds of tips and recommendations for places to eat and getting around in Chanhassen, which is impossible without a car.
I really don't have anything negative to say about my stay here. There's even an indoor pool, which I thought might be a problem since our room was right above it and we had a view of the top of the water slide outside our window, but they closed the pool at an early enough time so that it wasn't a problem. I really wish I could have stayed at the hotel longer. I will certainly return if I am ever back in Chanhassen.
