“Recent extended stay at the Northland Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I recently completed an extended stay at the Northland Inn. It was a business adventure and I was in a suite from Nov. 1st until Feb. 1st. Our entire experince was nothing short of fantastic. We were treated as royality during our stay. Everyone from the GM Michael Brunkow, the food and beverage manager Michael Jacko, the rooms corrdinator Jonah Wright, and even the hotel engineering staff lead by Brian Madison treated my wife and myself as though we were a part of thier team. They even made our pet feel like he was a part of thier extended family. Considering that we were on the property through out the holidays this year thier constant catering to our needs made us feel a lot better while being away from home and family. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering a long term stay or a one nighter.

Room Tip: Always try for a midlevel room for ease of access to all of the hotel amenities.

“VERY SUSPECT”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

My wife and I first got engaged at the Northland Inn in 99 and then went back in 2000 for our honeymoon and swore by this hotel until this last vist Jan.27th for our 10 year anniversary. First we reservered a room 2 weeks in advanvce and get there for them to tell us they only had a dbl, after telling him thatwas unaccpetable they ungraded us to the vip suite which was great but after staying I checked my charges and not only was I charged they damage fee that they are suppose to return they charged me an extra $120, after calling they said that we stole the robes that come standard in the room... what a awful anniversary experience.. I think they are trying to pay for renovations.... oh yeah there was uncleaned vomit on the stool area and under the sink vanity

Room Tip: Dont go here its under renovation and they charge you extra for things to pay for it.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. Fortunately, prior to this posting, you had contacted our management team at our front desk and they immediately removed the charge from your billing. I apologize for this error and especially since it tainted you special occuasion with us.

We are in the process of fully renovating the entire property and will become the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest in the summer of 2012. As a matter of fact, we will have our new Suite product available by the middle of February, 2012. I look forward to welcoming you back to experience our new and improved product.

“Nice stay”

The entire hotel is being redone, but for the most part it was a nice stay. I was there over NYE for a wedding and was pleasantly surprised by a suite. My big complaint was the slowness of the elevators. PAINFULLY slow. Otherwise no complaints.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your recent review on Tripadvisor. I am pleased to hear that your stay with us on New Year's Eve was enjoyable and that you were pleasantly surprised by the Suite. We are very fortunate as all of our guest rooms are actually Guest Suites. We are currently in the middle of a $24 Million dollar renovation and will have new Suites by the middle of this month - February. I'm also pleased to inform you that we are spending $1 Million dollars along upgrading our four elevators. This summer we will convert to the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest - the Midwest's only all-suite conference center.

I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Please call me personally if I can be of further service.

“Great Customer Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

We stayed at the Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park, MN Dec 2nd-4th and we were given exceptional customer service. The hotel manager, Sherman, went over and above to make sure we had the best time while we were there. He founds us great places to go, and took the time to make sure we had a great weekend! The hotel had nice accomodations and they are actually remodeling, so I am sure the next time we stay it will be even better. Customer Service will keep us coming back!

Dear Kathy,

Thank you for your response and your feedback regarding our hotel and staff. You mentioned Sherman's assistance in finding and arranging activities for you. He and his staff in guest services do a great job with genuine hospitality and I am fortunate to hear this repeatedly from our customers.

You also stated that great customer service will keep you coming back. I agree with you 100%. Plus, we will have a $24 Million Dollar renovation completed by the summer of 2012 and will convert to one of Marriott's newest full service hotels - Minneapolis Marriott Northwest.

Also, Go PACKERS!!

“Tired Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

Easy highway access, fairly clean and it will be a Marriott very soon. The restaurant is decent and inside the hotel. The large atrium adds a little bit of fun, but can be noisy if large groups are staying.

Every aspect of the hotel is dated and showing heavier signs of wear. As someone else noted, the sheets are pilled and rough. The beds need serious updating as well. I sleep in many hotels for business travel and this was probably the worst night of sleep I have had in a while. The good news is that the walls are all concrete so you can't hear your neighbors. All rooms are "suites" with a living room, wet bar and a bathroom with an old school whirlpool tub.

The staff seems very friendly and helpful if you need anything. They are especially accommodating right now because of all of the construction and remodeling.

In all, I would avoid this hotel until they finish the remodel and change to a Marriott. It will be a while until the rooms are even touched. Try a newer hotel in Maple Grove. You wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that face the highway. Stay on the top floor if available.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your response regarding our property and staff. I appreciate your positive comments regarding our staff and service.

I apologize for the dated condition of the hotel. Fortunately, we will have newly renovated guests suites for occupancy in mid-February 2012. Our new renovation standards for our $24 Million dollar renovation will meet Marriott specifications as we prepare to convert to the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest in the summer of 2012.

Every guest touch point will be renovated and I can assure you that you will love our new look. When you next visit the Twin City area, please call me personally to make your reservation. I look forward and welcome your call.
