“Awful Place too Stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2006

We previously stayed in this hotel in January of 2006. We had 2 poolside rooms. I had a few complaints then about the pool water being cold, hot tub did not work and the carpet in the rooms needing to be cleaned and also the ceiling tiles in the bathroom was moldy. I was sent a coupon for a free nights stay and was assured that the problems had been fixed. We returned in July of 2006 w/ my teenage niece and grandaughter. I was sad to see nothing had improved. It had gotten worse. The pool area was gross. There is a brown dirt line around the inside pool area. My niece went down to the front desk and asked if she could have a toothbrush so she could clean the scum line from around the pool. The desk clerk never even apoligized for it. He did give her a toothbrush though and her and my grandaughter proceded to clean some of the tiles so people will be able to tell that they are supposed to be white not brown!!! The water was cold, pool area filthy, room stunk and air conditioner didn't work properly. Broken glass from a car window in the parking lot. Breakfast had cold stale donuts and broken toasters. I could go on and on but won't. I notified Days Inn again and they forwarded my complaint on to the manager(Peter). He again sent me a letter just like the first letter saying that things had been improved and inviting me back the next time I'm in the area. I might have been dumb to go back the second time, but does he really think I will go back again??? PLEASE-- if anyone stays here, think of your safety and health. We all itched for a few days after leaving there.

  • Liked — The pool area would be beautiful if kept up.
  • Disliked — everything is dirty
  • Tips/Secrets — don't stay here

“Do not stay in the poorly ran hotel- you will be very sorry.”

We were at the Days Inn in Brooklyn Center North over the World soccer cup tournament in Middle July. I will never book at another Days Inn again, especially not this one. The lobby is very deceiving. It looks nothing like the rest of the hotel. It was smokey, dirty-filthy actually and the front dest service was horrible. Herein lies my complaint.:
My friend and I stayed for a total of 2 evenings. The hotel charged us for 3. We asked that they put one evening on my credit card and one on hers. The front desk lady said that she had it covered. She assured us that the appropriate charges had been charged to the appropriate accounts. We checked out and left. ( All of this happened while the General manager "Peter" was standing right there). On our trip back, as I tried to book another room, it said that my credit card was over the limit. I could not understand this as I "thought" I had been charged for only one evening at the Days Inn.
When we arrived home I got on-line to view my Credit card statement, sure enough, this hotel had messed up the credit card charges and charged me for both nights on my card PLUS an extra night, a night that we didn't even stay. After all of this, I called the Days Inn to straighten out the matter and was pushed from person to person to person, not getting any response for some time. When I finally received the attention of the general manager "Peter", he insisted that I was lying and that he would not refund anything to my card. I have had to lodge a complaint and dispute these extra charges with my credit card company, spent countless hours messing with this hotel and it's less than able or willing general manager and staff. If you are smart, you won't stay in a place like this. Heed my warning and save yourself a lot of time, dissapointment and misery.

“Nasty, Dirty, Filfthy, and Old Days Inn”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2006

Whateever, you do - please do not stay here. My 10 year old daughter and I checked into this hotel on June 6. It was a very long 3 nights. I booked the hotel on-line and thought it was a good place due to pool and free breakfast. I was seriously wrong.

This hotel is extremely nasty - not dirty but filthly. The lobby is actually okay and gives you a false impression as you check-in. After you walk past the lobby and the Karoake bar you enter the pool area to get to the various room. The pool was nasty and closed. The hot tub area was full of nasty, dirty, brown-green water. You can see the dirty on the walls and in the carpet. The plastic furniture that surrounds the pool was dirty and looks like has not been scrubbed since they purchased it. The light, green gate that surrounds the pool was extremetly rusted (although, I did see a maintaince person painting it the next day). We had a second floor outside room. As you ascended the stairs (no elevator), to your room you can see dirty walls - the tattered wall paper, and dirt in each and every corner. You don't have to look hard the dirt is everywhere. The hotel walls need a good scrubbing and a fresh coat of pant and the carpet hasn't been cleaned since installation or it looks that way. That horrible 1930s wall papers is coming apart, dirty and looks very worn.

The Room - I have nothing postive to say about the first room. Because, the front desk "claimed" the hotel was sold out and they had no other room to give me so we had to stay in the room for one night. The first room was disguisting. The think that shock me was that a huge stain was on one of the chairs and it had a funky smell to it (didn't get close and you can smell it from afar. The room was full of smoke and has cigarette burns all over the carpet and furniture. The lamp even had stuff spilled on it. My daughter didn't even want to stay in the room. The wall paper is hanging off. When I complained about the smell of the room - I was told I could open the bottom part of the windows; however, I pulled back the curtain and desk and cobwebs started falling everywhere. The window didn't even open and I didn't see a screen behind it.

I bed blanket appeared to be clean but I immediately ripped that off and began looking for any dirty sheets or pillow cases. I can honestly say the sheets were clean. The matteress are filthy. They were so nasty and if you pull back the sheets you will regret it because the entire night you are sleeping you are going to remember what you saw and will not be able to sleep.

The bathroom - was wiped down but far from clean but how can you clean years of dirty. The bathroom has huge white tiles an the grout between each tile is dirty. Not because that is the color of the grout but because it is dirty. The bathroom show tile is filthy, filthy, fithly and has soap scrum accumulated in every nook and cranny. Just nasty. When we turned on the water it came out brown as heck. Not just colored brown but left particles in the sink. Just nasty. No brushing teeth with that water.

It was hot and angry the next morning because I had to spend the night in that room. They next day I was assigned another room. It was just dirty but not filthy like the first night.

Outside the back of the hotel are several old barbeque grills that no one is using. They are old rusty and sit right outside of room windows. Why they don't remove the old grills confuses me because the hotel is already in bad shape why have old grills there to make it worst.

I wish I can say something positive about the hotel. I was extremely disappointed.

Please do not stay here or you will regret it. I check in the Extended Stay America down the road. It is nice clean and recently updated.

“A Hotel for Smokers”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2006

If you don't smoke, do not stay at this motel. Our nonsmoking room smelled. The hallways smelled of smoke. The pool area had ash trays on all the tables. It should have been an indication when we drove up and the Days Inn sign out front said "smokers welcome".

“Dirty smoked filled hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2005

The rooms were dirty. The pool had poor lighting.
The pool had mud all over the bottom of it. The pool had white particles floating in front of the lights in the pool (who knows what was in there). Cigarette smoke followed you throughout the entire motel. I was so disappointed.
The staff was very friendly and courteous.
