“Not for the Business Traveler. Good for Leisure W/Kids -->”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

This was my second hotel of the week. I'm a business traveler and had no idea I had a reservation at a hotel that houses the "nation's biggest indoor waterpark." Seriously.

I have a lot of little complaints: the front desk staff was not helpful at check-in -- where to park, where's the elevator, that sort of thing. The work desk in the room doesn't have a phone. The phone is between the beds. (I had several telephone conferences I had to be on). The light at the desk needs to be lowered or have a lower shade so it doesn't shine directly in your eyes. $6 for a yogurt parfait in the lobby? Really? Parking not particularly convenient. No luggage rack in the room. (The little fold out thing to hold your suitcase). I am not wild about Ethostream internet service, which wouldn't connect. Ethostream tried to say it was something on my computer (right, I'd successfully connected at both a Delta and USAirways Club, as well as at aclient's site, in the previous 48 hours). The technician said, "oh wait, I just reset something." And then I got in. I blame the hotel because it chose the vendor.

I don't know how to say this better: the ambiance of the place was weird. It just kind of missed the mark on everything it seemed. I won't stay there again and if the choice we mine, I'd give it 2 1/2 stars for "missing the mark."

The fitness center was fine. The room was functional, clean, pleasant enough. I never did stumble into a restaurant. Not aware of any kind of free or inexpensive breakfast. (Maybe there is, but I never found it).

Room Tip: I was on the end by the water park Lousy parking, and a crazy walk through the entrance to the wate...

I appreciate your candid review regarding your recent stay. I'm very sorry we missed your expectations in so many areas however I appreciate the opportunity to correct any shortfalls thanks to your detailed review. I agree that our hotel is not always the most suited for the business traveler especially if traveling on weekends. During the week, the park is usually closed while kids are in school and our transition to the business segment is very effective. Additionally, we recently replaced our entire wireless infrastructure with new equipment and I'm happy to report that our system is working incredibly well. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts. I welcome your call should you wish to discuss your experience in more detail.

“Military Discount”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

people found this review helpful

Our family chose to stay here the night before my soldier left for Afghanistan. My husband was in uniform and had orders to board his plane at 0900 the next morning which beat leaving at 0500 with a newborn and two toddlers. They did not give him the military discount because it was not official military business because his family was with him. What is more official duty then that.

Thank you for sharing your concerns about receiving a military discount during your stay. I apologize that we were not more flexible with your situation. I would encourage you to contact me directly and I would be happy to explain the situation in more detail. Helping me understand what we should have done better is well worth refunding the difference to you for the discount we refused to honor. Again, my apologies to you and your family.

“Great choice for a hotel stay near Mall of America offering lots of indoor family fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Our family really enjoyed the stay in this hotel. We booked the family suite which well exceeded our expectations. It was very clean with modern decor and upgrades, and offered plenty of space for our family to gather (there was a full sectional couch). The city views from the suite were also beautiful. The indoor water park and arcade room offered tons of fun. We had planned on visiting the Mall of America but did not as we didn't want to leave the hotel! Only a few minor complaints--the water park was quite crowded, but probably to be expected given kids were out of school for the week, and service in the restaurant could stand some improvement (our room service order seemed to have gotten lost).

Thank you kindly for your outstanding trip review. I appreciate reading about your experience and reviews like yours really do make us proud. At the same time, I apologize for the crowd in the park and the slower service in the restaurant. There are definitely some busy weekends in the park however hopefully you took advantage of the early morning hours when we are only open for our hotel guests.

I sure hope we have an opportunity to serve you again in the future. Please feel free to contact me directly if you ever need assistance. Thank you!

“NOT FOR BUSINESS TRAVELERS!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We had a 6am flight so booked this hotel to be close to airport...Wrong. It is about a 10-15 min drive to airport and the shuttle service doesn't start until 5am so we had to use a park and fly or take a cab. The front desk was very indifferent ....basically said, "too bad". RUDE. Also, there is a water park which is closed in the winter so no pool or hot tub. And to make it even worse we called for a 4am wake-up call which NEVER RANG even though front desk assured us they had it. Thankfully I set my cell phone alarm. I would NEVER go back here! Booked through Priceline so couldn't back out!

Thank you for your recent trip review. I apologize for the issues you experienced using our hotel as a quick stop before an early flight. I'm really sorry we didn't suit your needs as a business or park and fly hotel. I'm not sure who transported you to the airport however 10-15 minutes well exceeds the normal 5-7 minutes it takes to get there from our door to the main terminal. As it relates to the water park, we are open during the winter however we don't open until 9am. During the weekdays, we are only closed when all school districts are in session. Thanks to our unique design and separation of the park, we make a great choice for business travelers. I'm sorry you didn't feel that way and I welcome your call should you wish to discuss your experience in more detail. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts.
