We have stayed in Hyatt Place hotels in Colorado, Florida, and South Carolina and am very disappointed in this hotel. We hope this is not the new standard for the Hyatt. The first disappointment was the lack of a hot tub. The company has changed their policy to no longer have hot tubs at the hotels. The second disappointment was the discovery of double beds rather than queen beds in the standard room. Thank goodness for the pull out bed on the sofa, as a double bed is a bit too cozy and definitely too short for two 6 foot tall adults. Third is the one day "high speed" internet access. For the price of this hotel, there is no reason to limit access to one day, and the connection is extremely slow in the room. Fourth, the "complementary" breakfast, consisting of just a Super 8 style continental breakfast spread. Any other breakfast foods are additional cost, and overpriced at that. Waffles were on the menu but not available. The breakfast area is contained within the lobby area. Some people will like that, I personally prefer a less public breakfast area, especially since I am one of those people who like to eat breakfast in my pajamas. Fifth, the bathroom is extremely small, the door barely clears the edge of the toilet, and the floor space in the bathroom makes dressing in there nearly impossible. Traveling with a family that includes teenagers makes a private dressing area a necessity, not a luxury. Purchasing a room in a luxury hotel should provide better than standard accommodations. Sixth, there is a refrigerator in the room, but no microwave, and no microwave available in the breakfast area for heating or reheating takeout meals.
On the positive side, the hotel is very impressive visually, the lobby and rooms are beautiful. There are no complaints about the staff or cleanliness, and the beds, despite being small and short are very comfortable. The 24 hour gallery dining is very nice to have. Beer and wine are available as well as a small menu of appetizers, soup, salad, sandwiches, and pizza.
Room Tip: Request a top floor room to avoid noise from above.
