“Perfect for a visit to the mall before departing”

We had spent a few days in Minnesota, and wanted someone near the airport to stay. Not only was the shuttle to airport a great service, we were also really close to the Mall of America. I think they even provided a shuttle there as well - however we had friends that drove us, so didn't require this service. The value of this hotel was amazing and we had a very comfortable night.

“Disappointed in this hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We have stayed in Hyatt Place hotels in Colorado, Florida, and South Carolina and am very disappointed in this hotel. We hope this is not the new standard for the Hyatt. The first disappointment was the lack of a hot tub. The company has changed their policy to no longer have hot tubs at the hotels. The second disappointment was the discovery of double beds rather than queen beds in the standard room. Thank goodness for the pull out bed on the sofa, as a double bed is a bit too cozy and definitely too short for two 6 foot tall adults. Third is the one day "high speed" internet access. For the price of this hotel, there is no reason to limit access to one day, and the connection is extremely slow in the room. Fourth, the "complementary" breakfast, consisting of just a Super 8 style continental breakfast spread. Any other breakfast foods are additional cost, and overpriced at that. Waffles were on the menu but not available. The breakfast area is contained within the lobby area. Some people will like that, I personally prefer a less public breakfast area, especially since I am one of those people who like to eat breakfast in my pajamas. Fifth, the bathroom is extremely small, the door barely clears the edge of the toilet, and the floor space in the bathroom makes dressing in there nearly impossible. Traveling with a family that includes teenagers makes a private dressing area a necessity, not a luxury. Purchasing a room in a luxury hotel should provide better than standard accommodations. Sixth, there is a refrigerator in the room, but no microwave, and no microwave available in the breakfast area for heating or reheating takeout meals.

On the positive side, the hotel is very impressive visually, the lobby and rooms are beautiful. There are no complaints about the staff or cleanliness, and the beds, despite being small and short are very comfortable. The 24 hour gallery dining is very nice to have. Beer and wine are available as well as a small menu of appetizers, soup, salad, sandwiches, and pizza.

Room Tip: Request a top floor room to avoid noise from above.

“Good location - spacious room”

We had a two double bed room, which has a sitting area with a couch, desk, and mini bar/sink area. The rooms were clean, breakfast in the morning was OK - standard continental, and the shuttle service took us to the mall and to the light rail. Shuttle was available via phone call to pick up on demand throughout the day, which is nicer than other area hotels, who pick up 3-4 times a day at the Mall of America. Overall, I'd stay again, especially with a family, because there was room to spread out without tripping over each other in the room.

“Great for a Lay-Over in the Twin Cities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

I assume everyone knows about the location - convenient for late arrivals/early departures at the airport, inconvenient for accessing downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. I visited the area for a Wild hockey game and a taxi to the Excel Engery Center cost roughly $40. Nevertheless, this hotel is clean and comfortable while the staff is very friendly and informative. Definitely business traveler-oriented. Nice complimentary breakfasts and in-room ammenities.

“Great room layout for business traveler.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

Room layout works well for business traveler - sofa/chaise as you enter facing flat screen tv, little alcove for "kitchen"/bar - meaning it has a mini fridge and counter. Desk with extra outlets and direct plug into TV. Bedroom area is separated by a partial wall. Close to airport with easy, casual check-in. Individual room heater was a bit noisy and the shower a little "wimpy" but altogether, a good value. Continental breakfast including oatmeal, fruit, pastries, cereal and yogurt is free. Made to order omelet and scrambled eggs also available for reasonable price. Free wi-fi for one day. I would stay here again when flying to Minneapolis for business.
