The purpose of this trip was to go skiing and have a place to sleep. Overall it served the purpose. During the winter, they have a few cabins and rooms available.

The pool and jacuzzi were operating. They have a workout area and a few snacks to purchase.

During the winter, there is no restaurant operating.

Rooms were clean and have a microwave and minifridge. They are not the newest but have a wonderful view of the lake any time of the year.

My 1,600 mile road trip with two teenage girls was fun until we pulled up to the Ruttger's Birchmont. The girls were certain it was haunted and were having major anxiety just walking through the front door. They stayed on the beach until I was able to secure a room in the Cedar Lodge next door to the main (haunted) building. Neither buildings were the Ritz, but I thought it was extremely adequate for the price. The restaurant was better than adequate with excelent food & service. The complimentary breakfast was extensive and appreciated on my small travel budget. We took full advantage of the complimentary kayaks and had fun on the water trampolines. The on-site laundry room was really convenient too, but we had to run to town to buy laundry soap.

ps. I did hear voices at precisely 3 p.m. each night that woke me from a dead sleep. Weird but not scary!

The perfect anniversary getaway, we stayed in one of the one bedroom cabins with a lake front view, with a fireplace. Staff was very attentive to our wants and needs. All the amenities you could ever want on site, swimming, boating, hiking, dining, exercise. We will most definitely return.

Ruttgers remains a charming resort. With a choice of accommodations ranging from a modern loft suite to the old world lodge hotel rooms to rustic, cozy but roomy cabins - you can't go wrong! The resort is right on the lake where you can rent boats for fishing, bicycles for touring or just enjoy the fire pit on the shore a few yards from your screened-in porch. There's a tennis court, indoor swimming pool and indoor hot tub.
Everyone should try Ruttgers at least once - I think you'll go back again and again.
