“Very Loud, Never again”

We were looking for a nice weekend getaway for my family. We usually stay at upper end hotels but wanted the kids to have fun. Let me first add, the hotel was nice, the lobby and rooms were nice and decorated. The kids did have fun at the waterpark. However when bed time came it was a mad house. We spent $200 bucks for a kids suite, which was tiny its a regular size hotel room with a seperate little room with a bunk bed, and our area was clastraphobic, with a full size bed. When we decided to go to bed at 11 at night, kids were running in the halls banging on the doors, I complained once to the front desk but they did nothing as it did not get quiet until 1 in the morning. You could hear the people talking in the room next to you, and you could hear every single footstep the people above you made. It is not a quiet place for a getaway, spending 200 bucks a night I would expect more. I know there will be readers saying well there is kids there and its a waterpark, I understand that completely and we travel all of the time to other waterparks inside hotels, once you close the doors you hear nothing. So anyways the next morning my wife goes to complain to the front desk and the female who worked the front desk said we could not cancel our next nights reservation or we would be charged, but offered us a lower room. It wasn't my intentions to stay in a lower room and what good what it do, it would not solve the noise problem. So my wife told me this and there is a card in the room saying if you are not satisfied with your stay you get your money back, so then I went to the same female with that card and told her I wanted to cancel she then allowed me too. I did not want a hand out so I still agreed to pay for the room, but I will never stay here or come here ever again, and its making me question of ever staying at a holiday inn express again.

Room Tip: If at all possible try the 3rd floor if possible, because it is the top floor, the waterpark is fun...

“Love this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

My husband and I took our young kids here over new years eve weekend for the water park. It was a BLAST! The place was super clean, our room was hugh and most importantly clean. (we had the two queen beds) We were able to check in early which was nice. The staff were very friendly , they had free coffee all day and a little store down by the office that had t-shirts and sweat shirts, ice cream bars, snacks. The water park was great, there was stuff for the younger kids to do as well as up to the adults. One con of the water park would have to be at night in the water park there wasn't much light. The little cafe in the water park area was also great, there pizza was excellent! There was a great hot breakfast as well... We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We reserved a 2 queen bed room it was on the top floor, in the corner. It was the biggest room i had...

“NO Zero depth pool water, icky housekeeping”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Stayed here for 2 nights between Christmas and New Years.

Concern: Our room was small, and upon check in our curtain had a "stain" on it, and everytime the heat came on the curtain would blow out at you onto the bed. Since there is only about 2 feet between the bed and curtain, it was GROSS. I don't think I need to tell anyone what the stain appreared to be. I did let the front desk know and they did clean it up, but there were still other things stuck to the curtain that noone cleaned up. Fortunately, they did not resemble the other "stain" so I let it go.

Bummer: If you have small kids, I don't recommend this water park. I thought there was a zero depth or very shallow water underneath the whole play structure in the water park. There is no standing water at all, so if you have a non swimmer, there is no water except for the 3.5ft and deeper pool. My child always liked to sit and play in the water, but here there is none. It is just wet tiile floors.

Concern: The all ages hottub, you got in and soon everyone was coughing and sneezing. WAY too many chemicals, or it needed to be drained and cleaned. You had to get out quick otherwise you could hardly breath without having a major coughing fit and having snot running everywhere.

Concern: We ordered a pizza, it ws so expensive. $18+ for a frozen heated up pizza. Whew!

Plus: Even though the room was super small, it is a nice option to have the kids cabin type rooms. Staff was helpful, breakfast was okay and included. Long lines, but they move fast.

Overall, an okay hotel. For the reasons of the waterpark, I won 't be back, but if you don't have small kids - it's a good option.

“Nice place with friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

I stay in Baxter 2 to 3 times a month and have had a tough time finding a consistently good place to stay. The Holiday Inn Express Baxter offers a modern cabin look and feel with this relatively new property. Rooms are of average size but offer clean and modern bathrooms with plenty of plush towels. Bedding is equally luxurious with both soft and firm pillows provided. One very recent upgrade has been the conversion from tube televisions to flat screens. The included breakfast offers a wide variety of choices, including the trademark cinnamon rolls, although the quality is average. As a business traveler I have not used the water park so cannot speak to the facility. I find the desk and free Internet handy for work although a couple more outlets would be nice. I haven't experienced any of the room or hallway noise issues described in other reviews but have not stayed when the property is full. Most of all, I like that the nonsmoking rooms I request are fresh and do not smell of smoke or pets, which has been my experience with other hotels in the area. Check-in and check-out are a breeze with a complimentary USA Today newspaper and receipt under the door in the morning. Finally, I have found the staff consistently friendly and attentive both at the breakfast area and front desk.

“Clean, comfortable rooms but noisy.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

Our room was very clean and comfortable but the walls were paper thin! You could hear the guests next door snoring at night and all the hallway traffic (lots of loud kids!) was very annoying. The water park looked fun, we were there for a get-together with friends and never made it in there. The breakfast room was spacious, breakfast offering was average. But again, being located next to the waterpark entrance meant for lots of loud kids. The burgers at the grill located just inside the waterpark were delicious!
