I have now stayed at this hotel twice, both times the rooms are been great (very clean, cute "up north" furniture, microwave, fridge, coffee). Both times I have been here with extended family. This hotel has a great water park with two slides, lazy river, water volleyball net, a toddler pool and an indoor/outdoor hot tub. This is perfect as it allows those with out children to sit in the quite outdoor hot tub and relax while those with children can run around and play. When it's time for mom and dad to relax they can do it from the inside portion of the hot tub and easily keep and eye on the kids.

They also have a very nice breakfast including eggs, hash browns and waffles in the morning. If it’s evening, another perk is that right next door a wonderful steakhouse that boasts good food, large portions, good prices and a full bar. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed at the Comfort Suites Rapid River Lodge three nights, June 8-10, 2010. Mostly an excellent stay. We stayed in a one bedroom suite with whirlpool tub that was spacious, clean and quiet. A complimentary breakfast bar was served each day, and included hot items such as scrambled eggs and sausage or ham, and waffles, along with the usual items, cereals, toast, juice, fruit, milk and coffee, etc.

The hotel has a small indoor waterpark, with slides, a small lazy river, and zero depth entry play area for small children. It is a great extra value for this hotel.

The employees were helpful, pleasant, and delivered good service.

Good location, both nice sit down restaurants and fast food in walking distance.

So why have I only rated this hotel average? They charge $1.50 per day extra for the safe in the room, and this charge is not disclosed at the time of reservation. And I reserved using the Comfort Suites home site, so no excuse about third parties. The fee is disclosed on the rate sheet you initial when checking in, but I admit I didn't look that close and missed it, not seeing it until the day of checkout. Fees for safes and resort fees and such are very annoying, why not just build the safe charge into the room rate, like this hotel does the free wi-fi, and hot breakfast? Other than this, we enjoyed our stay here, but because of the extra undisclosed charge, would probably stay elsewhere next time.

We spent 3 nights here over Memorial day weekend. It was busy yet it wasn't too bad. The attached water park is small but a good one if you have small children. No tipping buckets or loud noises to scare them. The 2 slides are pretty tame also. The hot tub is half indoors and half out. It wasn't overyly hot.
There is a small snack bar. The staff in the water park do spend a lot of time chatting with each other by their desk so don't rely on them to watch your children.
The staff in the hotel are very kind and helpful. Check in was quick and efficient.
Our room was a small suite. There was a king bed and a nice size sofa sleeper. The sofa sleeper was actually fairly comfortable. Our daughter did not even complain. Our bed was very comfortable. The sheets were soft and the firmness was perfect for us. It was a very clean room also. There was a fridge and microwave. It is not a huge room but we only slept there.
The breakfast includes waffles and some type of egg thing each day. So that was nice. The women in that area work very hard to keep things stocked. Since it was so busy that was some job. It was nice to get a choice that wasn't high in carbs.
The only complaint would be that you can hear the neighbors very well so there must be poor insulation between rooms. Plus you can hear anyone walking in the hall. But I would stay here again if I was in the area.

Very pleasantly surprised by how nice this Comfort Suites was. The winter cabin decor in the rooms was a pleasant change for a frequent business traveler. The fireplace was an especially nice touch, although mine did not work. After my evening business meeting I decided to check out the waterpark and had a blast reliving my childhood. I especially enjoyed sitting outside in the jacuzzi looking up at the stars.
