I think it's misleading for this "hotel" to be branded as a Marriott Fairfield Inn. It's not nearly as nice as one would expect from that brand. This is an old motel which has had some renovation, but is still of mediocre subpar quality.

The beds were obviously old and had subpar support. The bedding/linen/towels were of 1 star quality. There was a tick in our ice bucket. Cobwebs in some areas of the room.

The rooms open to the outside. You should be aware that you can have a lengthy outdoor trek (as we did) to get to your room. Not fun if it's in the middle of winter and you're traveling with small kids.

Rooms are small. We had a room with two double beds. We est. the size was maybe 2/3 the size of a typical hotel room with 2 double beds.

This place seems to be the local's "party" motel. The pool has tawdry-looking folks hanging at it long into the night, which makes for a fair bit of noise. Most clients look like they're here meeting a lover for a "hook-up." The non-smoking room we requested smelled thickly of smoke-- all the bedding/upholstery was yellow with smoke. I thought maybe they'd put us in a smoking room by accident, but the staff assured me that the entire hotel was non-smoking but that they couldn't stop people from doing what they wanted. They offered me ammonia spray to deodorize the room. Totally gross. I don't know how this place averages a "4" rating, but trust me: this place is a 1, unless you're looking to party in a depressing 'burb of Detroit at a skanky pool and in cramped, smelly, decrepit rooms.

The first night i stayed there i woke up and my side was sore. didnt think anything of it until the next night it seemed like it was worse. i stayed there 4 nights and everynight got worse. i got home and found out that it was bed bugs.

Never will stay there again!

I booked a block of ten rooms for a sports tournament in the beginning of July. Manager Joseph and his very friendly staff did their best to accommodate our group--arriving at different times and requiring different accommodations.

We were upgraded to a King suite, which at one point was two separate rooms, but now the bathroom and bedroom and large desk are on one side, and a living area and kitchen/dining area make up the other. The kitchen area features a large mini-fridge, a microwave, and a sink. The suite rooms also feature cabinets.

The hotel has been recently renovated, and the pictures on the Marriott website actually are from the property--something I havent seen before. The hotel is near the corner of 14th and Van Dyke and near virtually every imaginable food chain, grocery store, and the GM Tech Center. The parking lot provides ample parking. Nearby is a mini-golf/billiards/go karts place that was a hit with the kids.

This hotel seems to be a favorite with wedding parties and baseball groups on the weekends, but the weekdays were pleasantly quiet and the staff does an amazing job of keeping any unruly groups in check.

The lobby has a very ample seating area, flat screen TVs, a computer station and the breakfast room. When our group misunderstood when breakfast was over, the attendant took us into the kitchen and provided us with everything Dinner reception is provided Monday through Wednesday. When one evening more people showed up than anticipated, pizzas were ordered, no questions asked.

Desk staff were able to provide directions to virtually everywhere.

If we every have the opportunity to visit the Detroit suburbs again, we will no doubt stay at the Fairfield Inn--Detroit/Warren.
