I have stayed at many Choice Hotels over the years and this one, by far, has been the worst yet.

1) Air conditioning unit not only didn't work, it was coming out of the wall.
2) There was a 3 1/2 foot crack in one of the walls, and was approximately 1/4" wide.
3) The bathroom was dirty, with tiles falling off the wall along the baseboard behind the toilet. More than likely, this was caused by excess moisture which results from the toilet backing up and overflowing.
4) Rude and disrespectful staff.

We contacted the staff and a maintenance person (on-site Manager?) arrived to fix the toilet - which was backing up and overflowing. He raised his voice at us and berated us for "misusing" the toilet, which we had not. It simply couldn't handle anything more than a few tissue sheet squares. He also said the A/C unit was broken by us however, it was in the condition it was prior to our arrival. It got to the point where we seriously considered calling law enforcement to resolve the matter.

We asked to change rooms but there weren't any others available, so in the morning we immediately checked out and went to another hotel.

We filed a complaint with Choice Hotels who referred the problem back to the hotel. Not the smartest move as we haven't heard anything since October 2005.
