“Exceeded expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2009

Garden Grove Bed & Breakfast exceeded our expectations. It was our first time at a bed & breakfast. Future bed and breakfast stays will be held to a very high standard because of our experience at Garden Grove. The garden theme and decor was very well done. Every room was very clean and comfortable. Great location right off the highway and in the midst of the Wine Trail. We would definitely consider staying there again and recommending our friends. The hosts, Paula and Jerry, are thoughtful, helpful and friendly.

“One of the nicest B & B room we've ever stayed in.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2009

We stayed in the Carriage house in the Woodlands suite. It was lovely with a large bedroom area, comfy king bed and a large 2 person jacuzzi tub. Our favorite part was the seperate sitting room w/a leather loveseat, 2 chairs, eating area and a wall of windows and 2 skylights and the 2 sided raised gas fireplace. The breakfasts were delivered to our room each morning and were delicous. My only complaint would be: to play music (who wants t.v. on a romantic getaway?!) you had to play your own c.d.'s on the dvd player and the room was COLD. The heat finally kicked on as we were leaving after 2 days. We also had to call the innkeeper to get enough hot water to fill the tub. We got a great rate due to the fact that we were able to get away off season and at the spur of the moment overwise this place is pricey! It is also right off of I-94 and you really can hear the road noise if you open the window and it is about 1.5 miles to lake Michigan

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2009

We just returned home from a romantic Valentines day weekend and are already planning our next trip to Garden Grove. This was our sixth stay there and I cannot say enough good things about this hidden gem. Here are some of the perks:

1) The different rooms are beautifully decorated and each have their own theme. Many of the rooms have two person hottubs and gas fireplaces - so they are perfect for a romantic weekend or celebration. There is also free wifi as well as a nice selection of DVD's (all the rooms have DVD players). The garden is very nice as well.

2) Jerry and Paula (the owners) are wonderful people. They are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Paula cooks outstanding breakfasts every morning that rival our favorite breakfast venues here in Chicago.

3) The location - there is so much to do nearby year round. Fruit picking, several wineries to visit, casinos, shopping, movie theaters, beach, bike trails (free bike rentals available at the Bed & Breakfast), lots of restaurants, and more! The area is strikingly beautiful. It is so close to Chicago, yet the ambiance is like night and day - it makes for a wonderful get-a-way.

I give Garden Grove my highest recommendation! Next time you are looking to spend a fun and/or romantic get-a-way, you will not be disappointed if you choose Garden Grove.

  • Liked — Paula & Jerry - the owners. Wonderful people.
  • Disliked — Having to leave!

“Beautiful place, terrific people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2008

This BnB is a treasurer. The old farmhouse is located in a residential area, but once you turn down their long driveway you'll realize you're in your own, beautiful, secluded world.

The gardening and grounds are kept immaculate and the landscaping is top-notch. The house is well-appointed and large - but the layout makes it very cosy.

To top it off Jerry and Paula are very friendly and helpful. We were there for an early morning 100mile bike ride..and Paula got up at the crack of dawn, 3 hours earlier, to make us breakfast!

Great place - we'll be back.

“Very relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2008

Clean attractive rooms, excellent breakfast and very accomodating hosts made for a lovely 4 day weekend.

  • Liked — Friendly and accomodating hosts. Great (!) breakfast
  • Disliked — Could be closer to the beach but shouldn't everything be?
