“staff went out of their way for us”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Unfortunately we were in town because my Mother in law was not doing well & passed away while we were there. We had a nice roomy suite, but our son was flying in from L.A. for the funeral & instead of getting a separate room for him, Maureen at the front desk suggested the Penthouse Suite above us & gave us a great rate.
She even offered to have the staff move all our stuff to the new room because we were planning a funeral & making picture boards, but we managed by ourselves.
There was a misunderstanding about the room as she had said there were 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms or we wouldn't have moved from our old suite, but since we had already packed all our stuff, we thought it might be o.k. & it looked really great.
The penthouse had a vaulted ceiling in the living room & a loft with a queen bed & bath. Downstairs was another bathroom , but only a murphy bed that pulled out from the wall in the dining area plus a living room & kitchen. Very roomy but no privacy for our son who slept downstairs & was bothered by the light from the loft & could hear us whispering.
The next day I told Maureen there weren't 2 bedrooms & she acknowledged she had meant to put us in another suite that had a regular bed downstairs but it still wasn't in a separate bedroom. We didn't have time to change rooms again & decided to stay put in the Penthouse & just get a room for our son. Maureen was very apologetic for the mixup & gave us a very good rate for our son's room considering all the hassle we had been through with changing rooms.
I saw a housekeeper going by our window & ran out to tell her about a leak under the bathroom sink & she was the nicest lady from Romania. She called maintenance right away & asked if I needed anything else. It's refreshing to find housekeepers who are friendly & helpful.
I love the roominess of all their suites but would suggest they do a better job of cleaning. They need an edge tool to clean the edges of the carpet which were very dirty. I always check the baseboards in hotel rooms & my impression of the quality of a hotel is greatly diminished if the carpet is dirty along the baseboards. I did let the front desk know & she said their vacuums don't have edge tools. I don't understand that rationale......so they just don't worry about all the accumulated dirt along the baseboards? Then they should give the housekeepers a stiff paintbrush to clean the edges.
The bathrooms & kitchen were clean & it has a full sized refrigerator, microwave oven, stove, regular sink & counter with barstools. Beds were comfortable & bed linens were nice & warm enough.
TV reception in both suites was lousy & I forgot to tell them about it, so maybe they would have fixed it if they had known. We would stay there again if we go back to that area. I felt it was a good value for the money, but they did give us special rates.
It is a very nice neighborhood, quiet & secluded. The nearby freeway was not a problem for us but our building was not right next to it.
The last nice thing they did for us was to let us leave all our bags in the room until 3pm because we had to pack up furniture in my Mother in laws room & take it to our daughter's house. They were very helpful during this sad time for us.

Me and my girlfriends stayed there for two nights! We had a blast and the location couldn't get any better for three women who want to shop! Would absolutely stay there again!

“Nothing fancy, but clean and comfy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

My husband and I spent two nights at this property in early November. We stayed in the "loft suite", which was extremely spacious and very clean.

The room decor is becoming somewhat dated, and the furniture/carpeting is beginning to show a bit of wear, but overall, the property offers a central location close to shopping, several good restaurants, as well as I-75.

Breakfast is included, although we opted to eat elsewhere. The spread looked adequate with cereal, yogurt, eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, waffles, etc., but seemed rather busy the weekend we were there.

Front desk staff was proficient and friendly.

We will definitely consider staying here again in the future.

“Hotel is OK - Cleanliness Lacks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Booked this hotel through Priceline for around $50 for one night.

Upon checkin the staff was very nice. I was checked in and on my way quickly. The hotel is slightly unusual - where you have pods of units (like an apartment complex). This didn't bother me, but I thought it was worth mentioning. My unit consisted of one large room w/ a sitting around (couch, chair, and coffee area), connecting to a bed, with a bathroom, and a full kitchen (microwave, oven, refrigerator w/ice maker and bare area). The bed was comfortable, and the sheets clean. The TV was small, and old, and while it did have a fair selection of channels, they were all fuzzy. The breakfast was fair - nothing special. Scrambled (processed) eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, juice, etc.

I attended the manager's reception the evening I arrived - which consisted of an italian pasta dish, bread, salad, and soda. This was a nice touch. While it was far from the best meal I have eaten, it was decent for being free. This is what upped my score from 2 stars to 3 stars.

Here are my issues: Upon entering the bathroom area at my arrival, there was a hair on the toilet seat, which bothered my slightly. There was also some hair in the shower area. The walls had markings and scuffs, the floors had stains. It looks very worn, and not so well maintained. While leaving, I was checking that I hadn't forgotten anything, and noticed a marble sized piece of glass (possibly for a drinking glass or bottle) in the middle of the floor. Fortunately, I did not step on it the previous night as I was barefoot. I was also annoyed with my neighbors in the room behind mine who were very loud until 11:30p. This hotel could be very nice, if the housekeeping was up to par, and the property maintained properly.

I would stay here again, if I got it for under $50.
