We stayed here for two nights using credit card points since we had been to a wedding here previously and felt the hotel common areas were charming. We had our two teenagers with us and were in the main building 6th floor. The young gentleman checking us in gave us a room in the annex section over the parking lot and I asked if we could be in the original hotel and he accommodated us, stating that the room in the annex were larger, though, but he'd give us a corner room in the tower section since it is their largest room.
Room: Attractive but small (even a corner room). There was no closet, just two free standing outdated armoires. Two small drawers total to hold clothes for four people. Beds comfortable. Tv was old style and sat three feet off floor so it was difficult to watch. They had limited movies for rent (like 7) for $16 per movie. There was a large fridge and a tiny table with two seats. Bathroom was small (but clean)and they had frosted paper on window (no window coverings?) that had peeled so we had to awkwardly place a towel over it so no one could see in. Cleaning lady tidied up but did not relace towels though they were in tub indicating please replace. Free WiFi. Overall: if we had two people, it would be comfortable. With four we felt very cramped. Try the annex if you want more space. The fan, when running, was incredibly loud. Also, our room faced the back of the hotel and some machinery below our window made a loud noise that kept me up a bit. ALso, delivery truck "beeping" at 6 am was a treat.
Pool: Large (up to 5 feet) and a hot tub, well kept. The area around pool is showing wear. Fitness center had tons of equipment and free weights. Attendant checks you in.
Restaurant: very good food for breakfast. Room serice menu looked decent. We had drinks here prior to the wedding we attended months ago and felt they were fine. We had drinks on the top bar too a few months back and they had awesome live entertainment. Small space, though. Check it out.
Location: Couldn't be better. The reason we stayed here. We walked from hotel to Front street with tons of great restaurants and shops. Bay is right there, too, for summer months, an ideal location. Tight parking space if hotel is holding convention or wedding.
Misc: Lobby is quaint. Attendants were pleasant. Elevators tiny but this is an older hotel so to be expected. There was a wedding Fri night so when we came back from dinner (Boone's) we had a difficult time finding a parking spot.
We had plans to spend our last night in a suite at another hotel and after two days tripping over each other in our room, I was a bit relieved. The rooms are that tiny. However, if you don't plan to spend much time in the room, not a huge factor. I would say this would be a great choice for couples, maybe not for families- there are many other hotels that would cater in space and amenities more. Had I paid for this room I would have been more disappointed.
