Spent a mid-week night in December for a small getaway. The Heavenly Bed and shower lived up to expectations that I enjoy from the Westin chain. Check-in was friendly and efficient. The valet service was also friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, there were some room disappointments. The walls seemed a bit thin to external noise (hallway, alarm clock in nearby room, etc.), the mini-fridge didn't work, and the temperature seemed stuck on uncomfortably warm.

I have stayed at the Westin about a half a dozen or so times since I can usually get a good deal on Hotwire. This stay was a bit disappointing for a number of reasons.

1) Room was missing some items -- bathrobe and do not disturb sign.

2) If you wanted a microwave they would charge you $20.00. Seemed like they were going to make you pay to eat there one way or the other.

3) Bar maid at the restaurant lacked friendliness. Didn't smile or seem to care . . . hard to want to spend money there, but no other places in walking distance for dinner.

On the good side, parking is free, the Heavenly Shower is always nice, and the beds are very comfortable.

Overall, Westin is a nice place, but it lacks the details that I think make a property four stars.

...for what one would fairly and appropriately expect from a Westin in Southfield, MI.

Overall service was good - appropriate Westin-level; rooms were okay although maybe a little dated but overall still decent; room service was okay but surprisingly expensive given the hotel and location; and amenities may have been lacking given this was a fairly large business center hotel.

Location however, is out of the way for most things unless you're in the Southfield area for a specific purpose.

Great hotel, and great service. Really a 4-Star experience. Booked on hotwire. Very comfortable and spacious room - with lots of shops for essentials in the same vicinity. A good restaurant serving simple and good food. Very helpful staff. Just off the highway - so very easy access and cannot be missed.
