My wife and I were traveling to the Detroit area for the Dream Cruise, 2009. We stopped at this hotel and met with a young man, the night clerk. We got our room and hauled our bags up to the second floor. The room was worn and well used but mostly clean except the bed spread was not pulled tight.
We prepared for bed and pulled down the bed cover. The sheets were very wrinkled and several strands of body hair were on the sheets. We called the front desk, and the young man came up, looked at the bed and gave us a key for another room.
In the second room, we found that this bed was in similar disarray, but no hair. (We believe that the house keeping probably does not fold the sheet, making them smooth and crispy feeling and throws them on the bed wrinkled) The rest of the night went without incident.
In the morning, we went for the continental breakfast and agree with other posters, the food and eating area was very small and not appetizing.
At check out the "manager" who is probably the owner, waited on us. When he saw the room we had stayed in, he became angry at us telling us how the night manager should not have given us the second room. After tiring of listening to his ranting, I told him that his night worker had in-fact done the correct thing. The manager became even angrier and his voice began to raise, and we finally just left. I watched my Credit Card statement and thankfully, I was charged only the price of one room.
We are again driving to the Dream Cruise in about 20 days and guarantee that we will be driving by this hotel and not stopping. We will find something further east.
Furthermore, they do have Wi-if, but it is not high speed, fairly slow but better than dial up.

stayed 2 nights for a last minute girl's trip to the beach. area safe and well lit. travel center across street with several fast food choices. staff courteous and attentive to our needs. clean room. bed comfortable. pool clean. breakfast area not big enough for amt. of guests staying the weekend. typical continental breakfast type foods provided. drove up i94 to sophia's pancake house for breakfast the second day...outstanding. take the 15 minute drive for it. check out the sawyer garden center/farmer's market behind fitzgerald's restaurant. amazing place for home decor/garden items and farmer's market/grocery.....don't miss it. it's right up the road from super 8...easily within walking distance.

We spent 2 nights going to the beach, just a few miles away. Rooms were super clean, comfortable, mattress was very comfy. Very happy with room and staff. Breakfast standard continental fare for Super 8.

I stayed two nights at the Super 8 in Sawyer. I wasn't expecting much after reading other reviews, but availability was limited in the area so I gave it a try. While young, most of the staff was very helpful. My room was immaculate both nights, with clean sheets and towels. The location is quite excellent, just a few blocks off the interstate which made traveling to the seven cities in Harbor County quite easy. I stayed in a room at the back of the hotel. Not only did I not hear the noise of the interstate, I had the most magnificent view of the changing colors of the leaves on the trees of the wooded area behind the hotel. Breakfast was typical "continental" fare, though the hotel did offer some protein (hard boiled eggs) and some hot choices (make your own waffles.) When I told the manager that the coffee maker was empty, she promptly fixed it. The only problem was that I had reserved a queen room, and when I checked in there was not one available. The front desk substituted a king room at no charge.
