We stopped in 11-6-11 to see if we could check rates and check in early or at least get a room and stop later to get key...NOPE...you couldn't do that! said a unkept frount desk clerk...didnt even crack a smile one second while talking to her it was 11:00 and she said youll have to stop in at our check in time! thats 1:00...i asked if there is rooms open so I know if i need to hurry right back at 1pm and she roller her eyes and said..i dont know ill have to look...( as if it was a total bother for her) when i told her of a web site price she said ...i have no idea at 1:00 we can check that out...I told her we'll stop back then at 1 and she said yep...ok and walked away!!. !!!?? wow decided to go to next hotel and well...WE STAYED THERE AND HAD AN EXCELLENT TIME!! for YEARS i have stayed at Best Westerns on **ALL** our stays just for the convience and experiences..BUT from now on I will make sure i call or check ahead of time because this was a reality check...my son goes to LSU and we certainly WONT be staying here...

This was a very nice hotel. Complimentary breakfast was very good. Rooms were very clean. An older hotel, but kept up, so it seems like new.

We stayed here during a trip to the UP, and would say this is one of the better representatives of the Best Western brand. The room was good-sized and well appointed and very clean (my wife, the fussy one, approved of all). We stayed on the second floor, so did not endure any noise from above. Stairwells, hallways are spacious, well lit. The hotel has a big, airy lobby, and some folks spilled out into it from the breakfast nook when it got busy. Breakfast was "today's standard free breakfast fare," if you know what I mean. The hotel is family friendly and has a pool.

The location is within walking distance of several restaurants (just be careful crossing the highway) and shopping needs. Many "Soo" hotels are downtown near the locks, but this area is just a short drive from town, so you're not far from the "action." Recommend you see the locks, even if you are non-technical person. Quite fascinating, good visitors center.

I was very pleasantly surprised. I hadn't stayed at a Best Western for years and didn't recall them being very nice, but this stay has changed my point of view. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and clean. Nice soft linens, multiple pillows, Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine. Lobby very nice.
