“Excellent Customer Service”

The customer service myself and my wife was given was absolutely one of the best experiences I have had in a very long time. Lisa is an absolutely wonderful customer service specialist, very hospitable, and goes beyond what a normal desk person at any other hotel would go. The room was clean and the prices were very reasonable and with the cold weather the indoor pool was very inviting. Kudos to you Lisa. Awesome job!

“Ants everywhere... and you wonder why...”

My family stayed in the Best Western in Saugatuck, MI on August 12th through the 15th to attend a wedding and we’ll likely never stay at another Best Western because of our experience there. On the first night, as I was placing soft drinks in the refrigerator, I noticed a few dead ants in the fridge. After waking up from our first night’s stay, we found ants crawling over the table and chairs near the air conditioning unit. I asked the hotel staff to please come in and do a thorough vacuuming and cleaning job to eliminate the source of the ants. I returned that afternoon to find that the ants were still present, and that there was a pile of white powder on the floor near the air conditioner. I have no idea what this substance was, but as I knelt down on the floor to inspect it, I could see more ants under the air conditioner unit. I then noticed that someone had placed four used food containers under the air conditioner (see photos on disk). I went to the front desk to report this to the manager who told me they placed those containers there to catch leaking water. I asked him if he could understand why I had a problem with this. “Would you like me to remove them?” he asked. Before I could answer, the phone rang and he literally walked away from me to answer the phone. When he returned I was angry and told him remove the food containers and please clean the room again. I walked away before I lost my temper.
I took my daughter to the hotel pool that evening before going out and attempted to call the front desk from that area to let them know not to clean the room until after 6:00, when we were leaving the hotel to go out for the evening. I picked up the phone and there was no dial tone. As I placed it back on the cradle, the entire phone fell out of the wall and was barely secured. I had to walk to the desk to let the manager know my wishes on cleaning the room. I informed him at the time, that he had a safety issue with a non-working phone in the pool. With no lifeguard present, this seemed like a liability. When we woke up the next morning, we found ants crawling on my son’s bed. To make matters worse, Best Western Corporate washed their hands of the whole thing saying they have no control over their franchisees. So that makes it clear! I will never stay at another best western ever again.

My wife and I stayed last weekend and found the place to be on the nicest Best Westerns ever. The owner, Mr D Patel was such a nice person helping us with our room and making sure we were totally comfortable. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to the Saugatuck/Holland MI area!.

“Worst part of our trip”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days and we were ready to leave after the first day.
It's a family run hotel and you can usually never find anyone at the front desk. (They have a bell to ring them to the front--if they hear it) The WiFi they have never worked in the room, we had to go down to the lobby to connect to the internet. The hot tub was never hot, rooms were small, beds were uncomfortable, the air conditioning leaked all over the rug in the room, the cable channels were limited, and at the end of our stay when we got the bill for the hotel, they charged us more per day than what they quoted us when we made reservations. Saugatuck is beautiful, but we would not stay at this hotel ever again.

“Nice hotel”

The hotel is a 10 minute, easy drive to Oval Beach, which I would recommend to everyone. That's a beautiful, clean, large beach with nice facilities. You don't have to stay within walking distance to enjoy Lake Michigan and have a wonderful beach vacation.
