I debated between poor and terrible but when I think back to our summer visit, I think I have to lean toward terrible. We visit St. Joe's every summer but stayed here for the first time. It was very dirty...so many stains on the carpet in our room, the bathroom felt dingy, walking by the kids room on our floor and the whole floor covered in toys so you couldn't even walk in and the worst was sitting down to breakfast and having to sit on horribly stained seats. Yuck! Staff was ok and location is great but this hotel needs a do over!!!

We stayed for just one night in October and the location of the hotel was great. Close to the beach, shops, and restaurants. The room was clean but needed a lot of updates. The price for a Saturday night was $140 which I think is rather high for the quality we got.

We went here for our 10th anniversary and we should have known we were walking into something bad after we realized that that the county jail is a block down the street from this place and that was not all! After noticing the shabby exterior and lobby, we asked to see the top floor room we had requested before we paid for it. They said the room was ready but that there was a small hole in the wall caused by a slamming door that had been patched but was not painted yet. Why they didn't mention this when we reserved the room we don't know. We go up to see the room with the manager and not only was the room filthy, it was also apparently occupied by someone who left her purse, toiletries, and a huge pink dildo with extra batteries on the nightstand! We ran out as fast as we could and the manager had the good sense to not charge us. We drove home and will never come near this place again! The manager did say she thought the room was not supposed to be occupied and couldn't look us in the eye so this leads me to believe that somone on the inside might have been using the room without anyone's knowledge which speaks to the lack of security in this place.

Just returned from an overnight stay in St. Joseph. This hotel was great. It's a little dated when you walk in, but I'm not looking for anything fancy because that always comes with a fancy price too. We had a room but then the toilet was leaking and they upgraded us, no issues at all. We had a suite which was a lot of room for just the 3 of us, but my 18 mth old loved the extra space to walk around. Also, the playroom on the 3rd floor was great, he was entertained for a good hour and then ready for bed. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the beach, the Children's museum, and the carousel. My only complaint was when I asked the front desk what to do around the area, they weren't very helpful. They weren't rude or anything, just told me to look in the book. I would think they could recommend places to go or restaurants in the area since they are working at the hotel. But, no biggie overall, I would definitely return!
