We drove into St Ignace from Canada on Monday night, 10/10/11. It was the last week of the season according to many we spoke with. We had a wide choice of rooms. We stayed in Comfort Inns the previous two nights. This was the best in terms of price, location, cleanliness, breakfast and friendliness. St Ignace is a wonderful little tourist trap that was great this time of year. They had lots of information at the front desk of things to do the next day and places to eat that evening.

I was at St. Ignace during the weekend of Oct 8th and it is regarded as the busiest weekend of the year! There was not a room in town. I was able to get a reservation at the hotel (online) for about 100 bucks. I wasn't expecting much from this place but was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel is situated right on the beach leading the Lake Huron. The back door of my room lead me right into the beach! So when you book a room, make sure you get something that faces the beach.

The rooms are nice and clean. No complaints here. Breakfast was okay. The ferry to Mackinaw Island is only a couple of blocks away. All the ferry companies charge the same for a round trip - so don't bother going to a different dock.

We stayed here 1 night when we went to Mackinac Island. It's overlooking Lake Huron and the sunrise the next day was beautiful. We had a jaccuzi suite (highly recommend it) which was nice because things had cooled off in the evening. We went the weekend after labour day and we were glad we weren't on Mackinac Island for labour day weekend. The weather was still very nice and although there were lots of people, I'm sure on labour day weekend there are even a lot more. We rented a tandem (2 seater) bike on the Island for an hour and it was beautiful, good exercise too. Back to the Comfort Inn--- This was such excellent value for the price. The bed was a really comfortable king size and the pillows I really liked. There was a complimentary breakfast at the main office location (a short walk) which was pretty good as far as complimentary breakfasts go. If we go back to Mackinac Island I would definitely stay there again.

My husband said the front desk clerk was really helpful and pleasant. She recommended a place for whitefish that was quite good.

If you plan to go to Mackinac Island and you're in doubt whether to catch a ferry from Mackinaw City or St Ignace, I'd recommend this hotel near ferry in a quaint beautiful town.
