Roughly a half-hour North of Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, we chose this hotel for the availability of a kitchenette, the price compared to the seasonally marked-up properties closer to Frankenmuth, and the reviews on this site. I admit Ramada Inns are a rarity for us, but the stellar rating furnished by other guests was enough to put us at ease.
The Inn was easy to find, the front desk was more than accommodating with our check-in (we arrived a little early,) and the common areas of the hotel were clean & pleasant. The generous oak woodwork throughout the lobby, rooms, and corridors was impressive, to say the least. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, water temperature and pressure were excellent. The area is quiet, with just about any major retailer, grocery, or restaurant no more than 10-15 minutes away. A continental breakfast is provided, and on weekdays I noticed there was a dinner incentive available at the adjacent restaurant for those not inclined to "cook-in" (may not be a current offer). The restaurant seemed a popular local spot, attracting a sizable Saturday night crowd from our observations of their parking area.
We rarely eat in restaurants, even when traveling, so we did make use of the kitchenette facility several times during the stay. The refrigerator/microwave combo is a unit made for small hotel rooms, the refrigerator is adequate but the microwave is somewhat underpowered. This is not a flaw with the hotel, as I'm familiar with the hardware and I can report similar results anywhere we've used it. Still, the cost of the upgraded room is easily absorbed by the ability to prepare one's own meals; so I can't complain about a couple of extra minutes of cook time.
The experience we and others received from the staff of the Ramada Inn & Suites is in no small measure a key to, and a recurring benefit from, Saginaw's impressive improvements made over the last few years. Satisfied guests beget good reviews, good reviews make for more travelers. Excellent overall, our thanks!
