“GREAT value for the money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2008

We stayed here because we were working at a Joel Osteen event at Palace of Auburn Hills. This motel is nothing fancy, but is very clean, very comfortable and the staff is very accommodating. The breakfast fare is simple, but fresh and tasty. The decor is outdated, but in good repair. What I liked about this place is that though not fancy, it was so very impeccably clean and you can tell that the staff take pride in their work. I left the maids a tip as they really deserved it. I would highly recommend this motel to anyone who wants a good value for the money. When we returned late at night after working, the motel was packed, but we never heard a peep from the other guests. I hope you'll give this place a try, because it is worth every penny. If you're looking for a five star hotel, you've come to the wrong place, but if you're looking for a good value, in a safe area with a good accommodation, it's a great "home away from home". If all Americans took as much pride as these people who keep this motel, our country would be a much better place. I really appreciate their efforts as a frequent traveler.

“Comfortable and Quiet”

We have stayed at this Travelodge every summer for the last five years. It is the best location, price and value for your money. It is an older property, but is well kept. There is really no better location in the area- Beaumont Hospital is across the street, Birmingham and downtown Detroit is a short drive away.

“Great old school motel!”

We needed a place centrally located for the Labor Day happenings in Detroit and suburbs. The Travelodge on Woodward in Royal Oak was a very pleasant surprise. It is an older property in the basic U-shape with all exterior entrances. The rooms were clean, with some evidence of their age, but maintained very well. Friendly staff met us at check-in, and offered suggestions for local restaurants as we were in a hurry to eat. Beds were comfortable, accomodating mom and dad in one bed, two sons in the other. Breakfast had more variety than expected, and the staff member in charge of restocking was very diligent in maintaining fresh food. Our room had more amenities than the price should have allowed. It was apparent from the people at breakfast that this property enjoys significant return business. We, too, will be back whenever we head for entertainment in the Detroit area.

“Homey, good area.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2005

Nice place in a good area 4 miles north of Detroit, giving the safety of the suburbs but not too far away from Wayne State, Greektown, Belle Isle, etc.

Hotel itself is typical, but clean with nice cottage-like rooms in back for weekly stays. Lots of trees and big windows, good breakfasts.

Neighborhood is a big plus, no Detroit sleeze in Royal Oak, just north of Pleasent Ridge, south of Birmingham near an all night Walgreens and McDonalds.

Heater was a little funky, working well most of the time, but sometimes overheating the place. I'm sure their good maintanence person could have fixed this, but I didn't ask.

Nice, comfortable, clean homey place centrally located. Good for families, children etc. Not for the high-end luxury (or even semi--high end) traveller but good for anyone else seeking decent accomodations at a reasonable price.
