“We enjoyed it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We stayed here 1 night in July as a park and fly to Florida the night before we left on a trip. We had originally booked the Days Inn and when we walked into a few of the rooms we were offered we were disappointed, cancelled because it seemed so substandard. Every room smelt of cigarette smoke and was tiny and cheap looking.
So we switched to the Metropolitan. The entrance is impressive, with chandaleirs and nice carpet and the halls are classy. The rooms are nice, with basic amenities. You can rent a mini fridge for $10 a night extra, we did not.
Our favourite part was the indoor/outdoor pool which our kids loved! There is also a hot tub. They provide towels in the swim area. All the staff seemed really nice
There was also a wonderful continental breakfast provided. All the guests seemed nice also, It was fairly quiet. Some business people, some other families doing a park and fly like us. The games room was closed, and the staff offered to open it for my 4 yr old which I thought was nice.
We did not shower nere, so can't comment on that, although I remember thinking it didn;'t look the greatest..we just used the pool and had a comfy sleep till leaving very early in AM
I would recommend for a quick stay. great price!

“DEAD BODY SMELL- DO NOT BOOK A ROOM”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

This was the absolute worst hotel that i have ever stayed in my entire life. I visited Detroit for a funeral and had to make last minute reservations for my parents (one who has cancer) and myself. They assured me that they had handicapped rooms available. We checked in late at night and the hotel was beautiful. The front elevator was broken so we had to walk (with my disabled father) to the other end of the hotel. When we got to the elevator there was a horrible stench. On our floor, children were running up and down the hallways all night long. Dirty diapers were outside of the rooms in the hallway and the room was atrocious. We went straight to bed because we had to get up early for the funeral but there was a party in the room beside ours UNTIL 4 in the morning. The walls were paper thin so we heard everything. The room was not handicap accessible, the tub did not drain. There was mold and mildew everywhere. Since the stench in the elevator was so bad, I took the stairs...even worse...no lighting and very scary. When we tried to check out early, we could not get our money back. I called the fire department and police department to check out the horrendous smell. Hopefully they will shut them down. Embassy Suites two doors over was a pleasant hotel that made up for all of this misery. DON'T BOOK AT THIS HOTEL!!!

Room Tip: Always read the reviews. Do not get in south tower elevator

“Reasonable and much better than most near DTW”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Room was clean and great towels. Wired internet was a little slow but it worked for free!! Free breakfast was good and lobby is very nice. Swimming pool and whirlpool worked fine. Air conditioner was noisy

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room "Near elevator" or it will be a long walk

“Don't Stay Here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

This hotel was probably once a nice property but is now run-down and offers little for the money. It is not a place I can recommend. The beds were comfortable altho only doubles (so hard to sleep 3 comfortably). The breakfast buffet was disappointingly small (and warranted a trip to a near-by restaurant). The walls were thin and made for a problem when a drunken group of people came back to the hotel about 3:00 am. The hotel staff did not appear able to get them under control, so it was left up to the "neighbors" to inform those causing the noise the quiet down. All-in-all, a poor hotel choice and definitely NOT worthy of a 3 star rating from Expedia! A real disappointment.
