We have stayed here a couple times in the last few years. The hotel is becoming run down like previous travelers have said but the view is what it is all about. We love watching freighters and our room had a great view. We did not dine in the dining room so we can not review it but we did go to the lounge. The music and drinks were great. We did have room service for breakfast and that was fast and good. The bed and pillows were terrible. They definetely need a new mattress. Over all it was a good New Year's eve visit.

We have stayed at this hotel almost every year at Thanksgiving for many years. While it is certainly showing some age and could use some updating, we found the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly, the room clean and large, and with a view over the river. The public spaces are historical, interesting and tasteful. We would stay here again.

The breakfast was very resonably priced and quite good.

One minor point. One would think that a hotel named the Thomas Edison Inn would make sure all their lightbulbs work! Two in our room didn't, although there were enough that did that there was no problem.

I spent another weekend at the Thomas Edison last Spring. Getting a little 'worn looking' however, so was the Royal York in Toronto and still first rate! Lovely views of the St. Clair River watching the many ships and water craft. Outstanding facilities. Large indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi hot tub, sauna and gym. Great dining room where service is as impressive as the food that is served. Wonderful bar (which shares the fabulous views of the river with the dining room). Happy hour, yummy bar snacks and a very relaxing atmosphere throughout. The room service is outstanding. Extremely reasonable pricing, fast service and still a heavy contender in all respects. The "old girl" might be getting a little older but, she certainly beats some of the 'sterile, ultra-modern, no personality' places people flock to. Great value for a very fair price. My pleasure to stay there as always...

After reading previous reviews running from wonderful to woeful I was unsure what to expect. In most ways all of them are correct. This is a hotel with a great location and it is clearly tied to the Port Huron sports community. The physical facilities are very nice, but they have seen better days and need a rennovation. The space and view from the room were great. The black out curtian made the room completly dark and the noise was unnoticeable. The tears in the wall paper, sagging springs in the couch and not quite right foot rest on the recliner not up to its potential. The food (a Michigan salad and Tom's Apple Pie with tea) from room service was very good. Fresh and well made. The tray sat out in the hall for more than 12 hours, and for all I know may be there still. Everything in the room worked well enough, but the bed, couch, recliner, carpet and wall paper need a refresh. For the area I have never found the food and view at any other hotel. It was like visiting my old widowed aunt's house. Not the latest, and needing a spot of repair but my what cooking and comfort. Sadly, hearing the desk help debating when a layoff would come while getting coffee (hot and well made) may fortell a last time watching the sun rise over the Blue Water Bridge from here, or at least a gap for a time.
