“Front Desk Management is so rude and trashy...how to people keep jobs like this? You have to treat people well or you t”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

First of all, it was just bad getting our room key. The girl at the front desk was just on the phone with others while we stood there for about 15 min. We had two very small children with us so I was really getting upset- I used the word "unprofessional" and she did not like that so a few words went back and forth on why I thought she sucked!! She could not even look my husband in the eyes because she was acting busy on the phone. People need to show some kind of respect to paying customer.....WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THAT? The great part was when we got to our room on the second floor. This room was soooooooo gross and disgusting. My two children started playing around on the floor and about five minutes later I picked up my little daughter and noticed that she and my son had dark black dirt covering the bottoms of there feet, they had it on there knee and hands as well. We clean up the children and are forced to lay about 8 sheets on the floor so we wouldnt get dirty!! So sick. I went to sit down on the bed and notice that someone left his gross contacts laying on the night stand and what do you know? My daughter tried to grab them(toddlers eat everything). Our room was also very dirty in the washroom- dirty razors, used soap, and shaving cream and a little left over shavings on the floor for us! We did not even stay one night and we were booked for 4. We will never stay with Days Inn again, I can't say it enough but it is so dirty.

“The staff was VERY accommodating; they went out of their way to help me, a stranded motorcyclist!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2010

I ended up at the Days Inn, Port Huron, quite by accident & was not expecting anything other than a bed & a locked door. Brandon, the desk clerk, was very kind when I checked in, getting me help using the free Wi-Fi. As I was only planning on being there one night while getting my motorcycle repaired, all was okay. Little did I know I would be there THREE nights due to inclement weather and Canadian immigration laws!
After getting my bike repaired, early Mon. morning, I headed to Canada. Six hrs. later, after being denied entrance, I was back, asking for the same room. Rhonda, the manager was MOST accommodating, getting me a microwave, commiserating with me about the rain, and just generally being kind. The room rate was superb, especially for this "poor, struggling school teacher from Florida who is riding her bike nearly 6,000 miles, this summer."
Amanda, a desk clerk, was also quite friendly.
The hotel is close to several restaurants; there is a Rite Aid directly in front of the hotel; and a gas station/convenience store is steps away.
(I travel with air fresheners, so the "hotel-room smell," which is present at most hotels no matter the price, was not much of a problem.)
I would DEFINITELY stay at the Days Inn, Port Huron, again, if Rhonda and her staff are still there!

“Very Nice For a Budget Price”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

My g.f. and I went to Port Huron to take a class over a weekend, and did not want to spend a fortune. We actually looked at the two big-name motels that were in the 1- star category, and then used the Travelocity "secret hotel" price system to get this one. Normal Internet price was $51 a night, but got it for $35.

The motel had gotten bad ratings back in 2006 & 2007, but saw it got better ratings lately, so we figured it was worth the gamble. I am glad we went there.

This is obviously an older property, but has recently undergone some renovations. The lobby was vey clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a breakfast area off the lobby where a Continental breakfast was provided. That's a bit spartan but for the price of the room it was fine. The room itself was very big and had what appreared to be newer carpet, newer paint, a big screen TV with cable. They said there was free Internet but we did not test that (left my PC at home). The blanket and bedspread was new. Our sheet had a small burn hole on the edge. There were plenty of soaps and a coutasy shampoo in the bath. Towels were a bit worn but still fine.

The exterior of the buildings were freshly painted by obviously dated the property. Access to our room on the second floor was up some rather old exterior stairs that were carpeted but flexed a bit. They need to be replaced. The parking lot paving was good. Pool looked nice but was not yet open (scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.)

It appears that some of the rooms are rented out as residential versus short-term stays. I saw one of the buildings in the back had a couple BBQ grills and other belongings more suitable for an appartment than a motel. That building appeared to need some new roof trusses (as it sagged to one side) but shingles looked fine. We were not in that building so it was a visual thing only.

There are lots of nearby restaurants nearby as well as access to I-69 / I-94.

My only complaint was the matress. We slept fine but the matress was very cheap, sagged towards the center and was, well, very "bouncy".

“Mixed feelings on the Days Inn - Port Huron”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2010

My friends and I decided to go to Port Huron shopping. We booked this hotel on a discount site for about $50 CDN (incl tax) and I called ahead of time to request 2 double beds. The lady at the reception was very friendly. The hotel itself comes across as more of a seedy motel.. but really theres no other options that are more "glamourous" in the area. The location is decent.. about 2 min past the border when heading to the shopping area in Port Huron (right behind that White Castle). It took us a few spins around the place to find our room because there were no signs posted. It was musty and hot in the room, however everything was clean enough. Our room came with a minifridge and microwave from the 1980's. Being there for one night it was adequate and I MAY stay here again but I would check to see if there is anything else in the area. We did not have the complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby area because it smelled like smoke in there and instead went to Denny's down the road for a delicious breakfast!
