“Residence Inn- Comfortable and Warm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2010

Located amidst the quite and peaceful surroundings of Pontiac, Residence Inn, Marriott is definitely an ideal place to stay for singles or a couple in Pontiac. The only noise that you hear around is of sparrows and other birds chirping all day. Residence Inn is a sensibly clean place with comfortable rooms and friendly, ever-smiling and helpful staff. I would not advise it for more than 2 people in one room as the bed is a queen-size bed but there is adequate room otherwise. There is a kitchen, a study, dining and living area and the bed room is separated. We have already spent 1 month here and have not got bored of this place at all. There is a pool, a gymnasium, a place to sun bask (though, the sun was hardly visible to us in this rainy season), and a separate pet area. They provide breakfast (which is not that bad, at all!). I am happy that I do not have to wake up early to prepare breakfast. :) They also have social hours in the evening from Monday to Wednesday where they serve dinner or rather supper that keeps you going for some time. To talk about the exteriors, there are pine trees around the property and adequate greenery. It’s a little away from downtown but you have some good Italian/ Thai/ Mexican/ Japanese restaurants and some fast food joints at walkable distance. The supermarket store is 5 minutes drive from this place. What else would you need? :)

“Great place, clean rooms, friendly staff...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2010

Whenever my husband and I head over to Michigan for a weekend getaway, we stay here and love it.

Staff (manager, front desk and kitchen) are extremely friendly and helpful. Our rooms are spacious, and have always been very clean.

The complimentary breakfast in the morning is a nice treat (coffee, cereals, eggs, sausage, bagels, oatmeal, muffins, yogurt, etc.).

We will be back!

“A Comfortable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2010

Stayed at this hotel on a business trip. The suite was very roomy and comfortable. The free breakfast had many nice items to choose from. The entire landscaping was maintained very well.

“There's better out there for just a little bit more.”

I am not here to trash this hotel. I will be as objective as possible.

The front desk service was great. Always greeted with a smile and friendly voice (over the phone and at the counter).

The included breakfast was better than I expected. At this calibre of hotel (I compare it with Homewood Suites), I expected a basic powdered egg with mystery meat patties. Well, I got sausage rounds with the powdered eggs, but I also got panckaes and they even have a waffle iron for you to make your own waffles.

The age of the hotel starts to show, however. The first room I was in started dripping water from the bathroom exhaust fan. I put a bucket under it to catch the water, but that just echoed the drip noise all night. Changing rooms was simple enough, as the hotel was not booked up.

Location wise - if you are not here for the GM offices of a Mariott Hotel study, I don't know what you can do in this area...but a 10 - 15 minute drive will get you to the shopping centers.

Unless the hotel rating system changed, I don't see how the Residence Inn is rated at a 3 star hotel. At most I give it a 2 1/5 * quality. If the Residence Inn is rated lower, I can overlook the quality of the hotel's appearance and usability. As it stands, it is a basic functional hotel of the extended stay types.
