“Decent room but loud neighbors!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

My wife and I stayed here for New Years Eve as a party was being hosted in the hotel. The rate we got was fairly reasonable considering the date. We were booked in a standard room with a king bed. The room itself was pretty run of the mill with the exception of the bathroom that was fairly large. The hotel itself looks nice and we liked the lounge area with bar and fireplace. We also liked the hotel's proximity to freeway access and restaurants.

While we didn't need it for this trip, we would fully expect a hotel such as this (outside of a major metropolitain downtown area) to offer internet/WiFi for free. Afterall, parking was offered for free. Perhaps this is just a byproduct of when this hotel was used more frequently by business travelers.

I have read other reviews from others complaining about noise from the highway or noise from the trains. We heard neither of these during our stay. However, we did have a room full of noisy girls in the room next to us at 4AM. While I expect there to be some loud drunk people at a New Years Eve party, I wouldn't expect them to continue to go all night long. I am generally a very sound sleeper and they even woke me up... and kept me up. We called down to the front desk and they said they would send someone to their room but I am not sure if that ever happened. In the meantime, we decided to turn our TV on to drown them out. The volume of the TV (which was set to comfortable listening level when we turned it off) was not even loud enough to overpower how loud these girls were. Either the sound insulation is not very good or these girls were VERY loud!!! Eventually they did quiet down and we were able to fall back to sleep. However, it was not one of our most restful nights.

“improving”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I have stayed at this property probably 100 nights in the past couple of years. The property continues to improve finally with HDTV, good lounge access, decent food, decent fitness area (could use some new equipment), nice people at the front desk. The housekeeping staff/management is terrible as rooms are off in disrepair and the clocks are never even within 15 minutes of the right time and more often than not they are not even plugged in. Incredible that the management allows the house keeping staff not to do a quality review of the rooms maintenance and condition each day. nice beds but sometimes can get a bit noisy when trains pass by if you are on the wrong side of the hotel and the thermostats don't seem to work properly either.

“Well maintained hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011 via mobile

This is by far the nicest hotel in the Pontiac / Auburn Hills area. It seems to be doing OK despite the loss of literally thousands of GM employees nearby. The room was very clean and well maintained and the bar area was still very nice. There is a big fireplace in the lounge and the wait staff is very friendly. Drinks are reasonably priced as well. The only reason that I gave the value a "3" instead of a "4" is that they still charge $12.95 / day for wifi access - today I expect wifi to be included in the room rate. Otherwise, this a good place to stay and an convenient location for Pontiac and Auburn Hills.

“Totally impressed!!!”

We stayed for one night at the Auburn Hills Marriott in November during a weekend getaway.

It was one of the best experiences we've had. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were travelling with our one year old son and they were able to upgrade us to a room with a king sized bed and also provided us with a minifridge.

The room was very clean and the decor was upscale and contemporary. The bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was large and my wife loved the Bath and Body toileteries (except the scent was a bit strong).

The location is very convenient and easily accessible to the highway. The Sommerset Collection mall is a 10 minute drive from the hotel. I believe the hotel is also very close to an outlet mall but we didn't have time to check it out.

It would have been nice to have complementary wifi in our room.

We had a wonderful stay and we'll definitely would be back.

“Pontiac Nov 13th”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

Stayed for business, a very pleasant, clean, safe place to stay. Bathroom is large, appears to be a more upscale/modern Marriott. Location is easily accessible from highway; a few good/average restaurants nearby and nice shopping mall too. The breakfast was quite nice too.
