“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

I stayed at this hotel for 2 night this past week for a family get together. This hotel shows promise for a decent stay when you walk into the lobby. It is cozy in a lodge type way with a fire and comfortable seating. Now if they only took this concept into the rooms, the place could be so much better . However at eighty some dollars a night, you get what you pay for. As soon as you cross into the area to take you to your room, the surroundings change into an old Holiday Inn type place. The overpowering smell of the chlorine from the pool, the stale odor in the rooms, and the noise remind me of the old Holiday Inns. We could hear the person in the next room vomiting, the people above us having sex, and the people running and laughing in the halls. The place seemed very crowded and in constant need of cleaning up in the halls and lobby bathroom. The rooms are average with a worn out look and the tile in the bathroom needs a good scrubbing. The hotel appeals to group rates for "teams" and the young adult party/skiing crowd. I would not go back to this hotel but my kids think it is just fine.

“Comfortable rooms with reasonable rates”

I've travelled to Petoskey on business many times, and this is one of the nicer hotels in the area. If you are a AAA member or have a comp card from their casino, you can often get a room for about $70. The hotel lobby and rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean; not opulent, but comfortable. Beds are above-average in comfort, but they have unusually flat pillows. Basic continental breakfast is available every morning adjacent to the lobby. Internet access is available, but connection speed can be variable in the rooms.
Two important notes for potential first-time guests. Due to its tribal ownership, this is one the few hotels in Michigan that still offers smoking rooms (non-smokers be forewarned). Also, the casino is not attached to the hotel; it is about 1 mile away. A free shuttle is available for transport to/from the casino.

“Odawa”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

This was my 3rd return trip, so obviously I enjoy the Odawa Casino and the Petoskey area. This is not, nor is it intended to be a 5 star hotel, but if you enjoy smallish casinos in an area where you don't have to fight crowds this is a good place to be. The shuttle service between the hotel and casino works well, and if you are traveling during "off hours" when the shuttle does not run as frequently, just ask the staff and they will radio the driver for you. The people in this area are very friendly and the area is safe. I have always been pleased with the helpful attitude of the staff at both the hotel and casino.

“We would stay here again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

Maybe it's because I had read the reviews and had realistic expectations that I was pleased with this hotel. We felt the room was very nice for the price and bed was very comfortable. We had a bay view which is somewhat of a distant view but still better than nothing. The refrigerator came in handy and the shuttle was handy as well. This isn't a high end hotel but , I thought for an Up North hotel it is better than the average hotel. We would give it a thumbs up.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view.

“The hotel was "fine"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

We stayed for 2 nights. The room was clean - everything was good for the price - except they realy should get some new towels and bedding as they were kinda dingy light grey colour from being used and washed too much. The shuttle works out fine for the casino only 5 min. away. I would stay there again and would give it 3 out 5 stars.
