“Worked just fine for our needs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

Used mapquest and trip advisor to find this place and I feel we got the best value by far for our dollars in the E.L. area. Room was clean, towels were large, breakfast was hot with lots of choices, desk was friendly (especially the cookies on the counter), wifi worked great, tv large with good cable choices (altho' we were missing a channel guide). No complaints at all about this property.

Room Tip: 1) No elevator- ask for a first floor room. 2) When leaving, follow signs to I-96 access. Do NOT tr...

“Good, but could be better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

We've stayed at this hotel before, but it had been a while. It was still very clean and the breakfast is really nice--lots of choices and healthy ones too. The rooms are clean and quiet. We have a dog, so it was nice that it was only $25 for the whole stay. We also got a wonderful rate of $75 a night (make sure to call, not just book online). There's also free wi-fi.

After staying at several other hotels, we missed not having a refrigerator in the room, especially when staying longer than one night. It's nice to store things to eat. The pillows aren't that great--small and flat. The biggest bummer is that we thought there was an exercise facility (and this may be my fault for not reading the info more carefully), but it turned out it's located off the premises somewhere and you have to give a $20 deposit to use it (returned when you're finished). That's just too inconvenient when traveling with a two-year-old. They could just take one room and put some exercise equipment in it (we saw this in another hotel where we stayed).

When we first arrived the front desk lady was constantly on the phone. Every time I walked by thinking I'd ask her something, she was busy talking, and it looked like it was personal calls. However, the rest of the staff was wonderful, especially the breakfast staff people who always asked if anyone needed anything else before they shut it down.

Overall, it's a great price and location. It's clean and breakfast is good. It's great if you're traveling with a pet. Just don't expect many luxuries.

“Needs TLC”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

We stayed at this hotel for one night and was very disappointed with the room. The location is great, and the exterior looks good, but the interior is in need of a lot of TLC. The furniture in the lobby and common areas is worn and looked dirty. I made sure not to sit on them. The room smelled of old smoke, which seems to be in the carpet, and curtains. The room needs to be refurbrished and the entire hotel could use an overhaul. The room appeared to have been cleaned by housekeeping, but the odor in the halls and room made me think that is could use a makeover. I would NOT recommend this hotel even for a short stay. There are only a few hotels in the area, and they all seem to get booked up. I would NOT stay here again. Because the hotel interior was in such poor condition, I did not eat any breakfast. However, I noticed that there were eggs, sausage, waffles, danishes, etc.The hotel could probably be nice if it receives some TLC as soon as possible

“Outstanding staff, clean, quiet and very accommodating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

We were in town for a funeral. The hotel allowed us to check in early because of early calling hours. This hotel was very quiet. No matter what was needed, the staff cheerfully helped us. We stayed three days.

The bedding was clean, soft sheets, nice white towels. Decent breakfast bar, not alot of a variety. Close to restaurants. Not too far from Michigan State.

Although it is an older Comfort Inn, it was exceptionally clean.

Room Tip: Any room appears to be quiet. No busy highways.

“Super Bargain for the Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

We had a period of time around Memorial Day that we were without electricity at our home. Many of the families in our neighborhood ended up staying at this Comfort Inn. The facility was in excellent condition with very accomodating employees. The hot breakfast that was served every morning was about what you would expect. It was hot and it was better then most free hotel breakfasts. The other hotels we contacted did not go out of their way to lower their rates for the us because of the circumstances we were in. The Comfort Inn people went out of their way for all of us. Would I recommend this hotel to friends visiting our area? Yes! A very resounding YES!
