“Unpleasant all around.....sad birthday surprise.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

My husband booked the romance package for me for my birthday. I was very pleased because we had been talking about doing it for some time. When he called the hotel to book the package he was routed to a call center. When he asked them specific questions about he package and couples massage, the person at the call center put him on hold to call back to the hotel because they couldn't answer any of his questions. He was ultimately told that he would have to find out when he got to the hotel. Note: the website offers the couples massage and the pamphlet in the room says the same. When we got to the hotel we waited forever to get checked in because we were not booked for the romance package. A manger had to help fix it. My husband requested a room with a Japanese style soaking tub, which we got, but was so dirty I wouldn't dream of soaking in it. The walls of the shower could be photographed for a crime scene they were so dirty. We were put immediately across from the employee utility room which was always open so our first view walking out of our room every time was the inside of the utility room because the door was always open. There was also a utility cart with tools and a mess from a broken door down the hall which was left that way for our entire stay. Lots of noise with voices and doors being slammed especially around 6-6:30 a.m....must have been shift change or something. Back to checking in...we asked about the couples massage and were given a map to the mall. They circled a store in the mall and told us to go there or call to have them set up a massage. So much for concierge service. We skipped the massage. We went to dinner at toasted oak. Nice place, but it took nearly an hour to get our food. We were informed that our meal for two was behind a party of 12 so it would he a while. My husband is allergic to potatoes, so we (as we always do everywhere we go) informed the server and asked that absolutely no potatoes touch his plate. When we finally got our food, my husband took the top off his burger and there were two french fries on it. We were very lucky he didn't bite into it. They had obviously forgotten about our request and placed fries on the plate and then pushed them off when they were reminded. It truly could have been a trip to he ER for us. So we waited again for his food to come out while mine got cold. When we were ready to go, we were given a $50 gift card to come back, but we will not be going back. We graciously thanked them and left. It was a real shame and definitely didn't add up to a good birthday surprise and I didn't even mention the rest of the issues with the initial reservation. My husband was very disappointed and so was I with our entire experience at this hotel.

“Made our engagement extra special”

This was our second stay at the Baronette Renaissance and both times our stay was more than expected.

First of all, the lobby of this hotel is the most welcoming I've ever seen. You will never find another like it.

This time we received a free room upgrade because it was available and we have a silver rewards membership. The room was outstanding. Everything was super clean. I do not believe that a bed bug could come within a mile of this place

Furthermore, the staff was extra friendly. We had the best time..again this year. This hotel is by far the best hotel I've ever stayed in.

“good location”

The hotel is good, the rooms are up to the standard expected and the staff is friendly. If you don't mind being located in the middle of a mall area, the location is quite good.

“nice hotel but needs some housekeeping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I recently stayed in this hotel on Friday and Saturday nights. The hotel is very nice and the rooms are large and pleasant. I really can't understand a hotel of this size that doesn't have any towel racks in the bathroom. This seems like very bad planning. Also the bathroom floor could have used some cleaning. It looked a little dirty when I arrived and by the time I left it really needed work. I don't think the housekeeper even looked at it when cleaning on Saturday. I arrived on Friday at 4PM and a room near mine had an empty glass outside the door. When I left on Sunday that glass was still there and the hallways really needed to be vacuumed. This tells me this hotel does not do much housekeeping on the weekend and I have to wonder about during the week.

Thank you for your recent stay and comments regarding your visit. I am pleased that your overall impressions were positive.

As hotels are moving toward a residential design, you will see more usage of furniture, such as the vanity in bathrooms to create a more spa-like experience and less traditionally functional elements such as towel bars.

I do apologize for the level of cleanliness that you experienced with your guest room and the surrounding hallway. This is an area of particular focus for us, and your comments have helped us to retrain our staff members on our standards of performance.

Thank you again for shaing your feedback with us.

Warm regards,

Kimberly Greene

“Treated like we weren't out of towners”

We recently attended a family wedding traveling from Pittsburgh arriving late at nite. We checked in to the most friendliest of staff. Prompt attention beyond belief delivering extras. The cafe which adjoins the hotel have the extra special employees. Not only did they hook us up with a snack even after the kitchen was closed but, they went above the call in making sure we got whatever we needed. Of course the bed was beyond dreamy (no bedbugs I checked) and would have loved to of stayed for a week. Of course OUR Family fit right in and made what was already a good experience a Great time!

Room Tip: have to have key for elevator to get to third floor, made me feel safer.

Thank you for your recent visit to the hotel and for sharing your comments. We are thrilled that you had such a great experience and found our staff to be very friendly and accommodating!

I am very glad you had a chance to experience Toasted Oak, even while the dining room was closed and that you found our rooms to be very comfortable.

We look forward to seeing you and your family again, when your travels bring you back to the Novi area.

Warm regards,

Kimberly Greene
