We have been making an overnight trip to New Buffalo about every 6 or 7 weeks and were staying at the Comfort Inn, which was pretty good and we never really had any problems. We decided to give the Holiday Inn Express a try--it's right across the street from the Comfort Inn. We were told the hotel did a renovation about 2 years ago and it does look contemporary. It was clean and the check-in people very friendly. The major difference between these hotels is the complimentary breakfast. The Holiday Inn breakfast is a major step up. They advertise it as a "full breakfast" and it is. They serve normal scrambled eggs with bacon instead of the hockey puck sausage patty with the disk shaped, no taste eggs that you get at the Comfort Inn. They also have the usual pancakes, biscuits and gravy, rolls, fruit, etc. The lady running the breakfast buffet is always on her toes, cleaning the tables as people were leaving and always stocking the food pans. The best part about staying at the Holiday Inn versus the Comfort Inn is that the room prices are less expensive. We had a king room with a small kitchen area, microwave, refrigerator and sink with overhead cabinets. There was a small table in the kitchen area where we could eat and a couch and coffee table area. It was a spacious room and the cost was $108 per night and that was a Saturday night. So, needless to say, we will continue to book the Holiday Inn Express.
