“New stay-different room type.”

I stayed at Four Winds overnight on December 17, 2011 just for 1 night. My earlier visit I just had the Standard room, but this time I had a junior suite--rated at 500 Sq. Feet.

I was in room #5109 with a decent view. The room was vary clean. It had a large "L" shaped sofa in the living room, 2 rather smallish 32" inch wall mounted TV's, one for the bedroom and one for the living room, both Sony's. The room also had a small microwave and a refrigerator, both of which came in handy.

They also provide an in-room coffee maker, and 2 comp. bottles of water. The room also had a large glass work desk, and in the bathroom is a huge shower that could easily fit 4-5 people if you were so inclined. Also in the bathroom was a vary clean jacuzzi tub and marble everywhere. The bath also had the his/hers double sinks.

The room also contained the usual safe, ironing board, and bathrobe--none of which I used. In the living room was also a small wet bar. The wake up call for the following morning was right on time, and i had no problem requesting a 12:00 noon exit time from my suite.

The room also had a large chair in the bedroom, and upscale toiletries in the bathroom. My slot play in the casino has been a bit brutal, but the accomodations are extremely nice. The only room types that i haven't tried yet are the Deluxe Suite-800 Sq. feet, and the Celebrity Suite--1,000 Sq. feet. I will try my best to see these room types in the very near future.

I just found out that you can only review a property once every 3 months, per tripadvisor rules.

Cindy @ the hotel check-in was great as well. See you again soon!!

Room Tip: Even the standard rooms are quite nice and vary clean. If you are a player the comp room upgrades w...

“nice room but DON"T eat at the buffet!”

went there on a complimentary night stay and the room was very nice. compfortable bed and clean but could use some signs in hallways reminding people when walking through the halls in the middle of night that PEOPLE DO SLEEP HERE! haven't won no money here really either and DON"T waste you're money eating at the buffet! i thought paying $20 "the cheapest dinner mon-weds" the food had to be great but some of the pasta was starch tasting and most of all the food was COLD brrrrrr! for that amount of money you would think that the food would at least be warm. our waitress only came to the table once and there is a reason they didn't ask how was you're dinner. most of the staff was friendly and made you feel welcome. i would love to stay again but DON"T EAT THE BUFFET!

Room Tip: don't have a room by elevators or ice room

“Nice Hotel but skip the gambling & food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

My husband & I spent 3 nights at the hotel between Christmas & New Year's. The hotel was wonderful. The check-in was quick & the desk staff was very helpful. Our room, as well as the entire casino, was very clean & well maintained. In addition, we were very impressed with the friendly attitude of all the employee's. If I were rating this hotel stay alone, I would definately give it a 10.

Unfortunately, we were really disappointed with the food, drinks & gambling. The Willowbrook Cafe was closed Mon.-Wed. & the Timberwood's menu was rather limited & the food was awful. The hamburger was dry & the chili dogs so salty they were not edible. The buffet in the Player's Club was quite small & the main entree's were again so salty that they were not edible. The "salad bar" was worse than what a small family diner would offer. The weekday buffet looked as lame as the Player's Clubs buffet & we were glad we didn't waste our money on it. We were looking forward to eating at the CopperRock Steakhouse, but didn't want to spend $100 a person for a meal that we feared would be as poor as what we had already experienced.

In addition, the drinks were lame. They have a "Martini Bar" that boasts an extensive martini selection, which in fact includes just the basics, of which they managed to mess up. Speaking of which, the manager of the Player's Club thinks she can substitute as a bartender. Her Lemon Drop martini consisted of Lemon Vodka....one of the worst martini's I've ever had!
It took 20 minutes for them to find a real bartender to make a proper one. Thank goodness I could take the drink out on to the floor, since I had finished my meal before my drink finally arrived.

As far as the gambling...we wouldn't go back. The slots are VERY tight. In the 3 days we were there, not ONCE did we hear any "hooting & hollering" from any gamblers. We have
never been at a casino where you don't at least occasionally hear the excitement of a winner. We have gambled in Michigan @Soaring Eagle, Odawa, Turtle Creek & MGM Grand in Detroit & all of them seemed to provide the patrons with a few wins now & again.

Also, there's no spa to enjoy here. (Which is always nice after a day of losing @ the casino!)
They are in the middle of adding on to the resort, but those plans do not include a spa either.

Unfortunately, we will be spending our money elsewhere & will not be going back.

Room Tip: Upper floors are pretty quiet.

“Holiday get away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Spent 2 nights at the Four Winds and had a great time. The rooms are strictly first class, and the service was top notch. The only complaint I have was I sent 2 emails to the hotel inquiring if they had a special package, basket, etc as we were celebrating our anniversary and I wanted to make it special. I never got a response in the 4 weeks they had the emails.
Quite disappointing. Otherwise all was great and the restraurants were very good. We had a great view of the front of the hotel, as they are building on to the hotel and we did not hear any construction noise. We did drive 10 miles south to Michigan City and did some shopping at the Lighthouse Outlet mall.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor
