We stayed at the Hotel Punta Lara for 2 nights in May 2008 but would not stay there again. The first room we had was very basic but there was no water a number of times during our first day, not very hygenic for flushing the loo etc. The following day when my husband wanted a shower there was no hot water and it took a couple of hours and my temper being lost before we were given another room (in a different block of rooms as one of the boilers was broken). The staff were apologetic and a bottle of champagne was sent over to compensate for our problems.
I have to say that the restaurant was first class, the food was superb but the prices were quite high compared to other places we stayed during our 3 week trip.
The steps down to the beach from the hotel were badly damaged and needed replacing and the swimming pool was dirty. This was the start of the season so I would expect everything to be in order before everyone was about to arrive.
