Oh dear! We didn't enjoy this place at all. We originally found it in Alastair Sawday's. 'Special Places to Stay' and called for a reservation on Thursday 6 September 2007 for one night before our return ferry from Cherbourg.
According to the review, the bedrooms were simply furnished - true - green velour headboard on a standard double bed with the base on view, chipboard side tables, (with short cloths) and velour golden coloured sofa with a 1950's bathroom.
We had room 3 and to be fair since the review was written in 2005, a lot seems to have changed. I understand the original owner left, sold on to someone else and it seems it might have gone downhill since then.
The food was really mediocre - cooked by an englishman - and having been spoiled for choice in fabulous French restaurants for the previous week, we were very disappointed!
Whilst the garden at the back was quite pretty, the rest of the land was neglected and overgrown. Things change. But I think that where once this was probably rather a lovely, well run and slightly isolated place to spend some time, with good food and unusual activities, it's now a run-down, unloved pet project, which in my opinion , without any proper effort and passion, is just going to go further downhill - don't bother.
