“An Autumn Escape”

Having lived in France, having traveled throughout France and having been a French travel advisor for over 40 years, I can attest to some of the more enjoyable places to stay in this beautiful country.
The DOMAINE DE BIDAUDIERES is among the finest get-aways.
With its location in the heart of chateau country, one has easy access to the history, architecture, scenic beauty and fine cuisine and wines of the Loire Valley. The backroad drives provide an entrance into a fabled area.
The Domaine's large, cheerful and very comfortable rooms overlook terraces, a
lovely pool and the countryside while the grand stairway (or an elevator if one
prefers) leads to the plant-filled windowed breakfast room where the morning table is a perfect way to begin a day of relaxation and/or exploration.
There is also a Troglodyte apartment in the great cliffs backing the chateau - ideal
for a family. How many people can say that they stayed in a cave?
With the serenity of the area, the accessibility to nearby activities, the greatest asset of Bidaudieres is the gracious, enthusiastic and totally charming hostess,
Sylvie Suzanne. How welcome one feels immediately upon meeting her. She
makes the stay even more memorable.
I have just returned from a three night stay and wish that it could have been
longer. The unrushed visitors, the uncrowded roads, the no-wait lines, al fresco
dining against a tapestry of autumn colors gave our small group a sense of time-
lessness

“Very nice, very spacious, good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

This B&B has six room at the top floor of an old estate.
We had room 6 (end of the hall). One of the two family rooms.

It looks very, very nice with some antique furniture in the room and has all the things you need:
- Airconditioner
- HD TV plus cable (no foreign channels though)
- Free Wifi
- Nice bathroom
- Walk in closet
What could have been better/added:
- Small fridge
- Safe

There is an elevator to the floor, a room for breakfeast downstairs and a very nice, large, pool outside, next to the orangerie.

We'll be back.

Room Tip: If you go there, ask for the room at the end of the hall.

“A wonderful place to stay”

We saw La Domaine recommended in Alastar Sawday's book on France. Once again we were not disappointed. The building is breathtakingly beautiful. It has been restored to the highest quality . We stayed for four nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Our hostess was charming.. The rooms were tastefully decorated with high quality and stylish fittings. The swimming pool was a boon, as were the loungers by the pool. Breakfast was fresh croissants and other fresh daily bakery produce. The surroundings eg castles of the Loire , were on our doorstep.

“Gorgeous small hotel, oozing charm!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

We stayed at this charming, gorgeous hotel for only one night during our Loire Valley trip, and wished we could have stayed longer! The proprietress was friendly and very charming, the rooms were really huge and elegant, and the expanded continental breakfast was delicious. Every detail about the beautiful house, almost a chateau, is exquisite. We even loved the cats!

“Beautiful. Wish we stayed longer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

We stayed for one night in the troglydyte with our 3 young boys on a driving holiday to Spain. The boys were so excited to be staying a 'cave' and it didn't disappoint. The cave is more a small self-contained apartment with basic kitchen facilities. So rather than go out and eat that night we decided to get some local produce and eat at the outside table and chairs. It was perfect. The whole place is so peaceful.

The main house is beautiful and has been tastefully restored, the grounds and swimming pool are fantastic. Everyone at Bidaudieres was so friendly and helpful, I really didn't want to leave in the morning, another night would have been perfect. Highly recommend this place.
