The approach along the route of the 'grand cru' is utterly charming and so too is this excellent yet informal hotel. It's easy to find with ample parking. We'd asked for a view of the vineyard and were delighted to be warmly welcomed and shown to our lovely first floor room at the rear of the hotel, complete with private balcony. The room itself was spacious and simply furnished but well equipped with comfortable bed, television, telephone, mini bar as well as ensuite shower with hairdrier.
The idyllic location merited a relaxing evening, so we were pleased we had opted for their cold platter (or machon) rather than eating out. We were rewarded with a delicious selection of pate, cold meats, green salad, variety of breads, cheese and cake. We also visited their cellar to select wine to go with our meal - which was absolutely superb. (However also rather expensive....so in future we might take our own wine, or buy from one of the many 'caves' in the village, which seemed to be open until around 7pm). As it was a warm evening, it was delightful to enjoy a leisurely meal in their garden overlooking the vineyard and the Chateau de Clos de Vougeot. As the bats emerged in the twilight, we strolled up to the chateau and around the vineyards. Perfect!
After a comfortable night's sleep and an excellent hot shower, there was no rush for breakfast between 8-10am which is just as well because it's certainly the finest spread I've been offered so far in France. An exotic selection of fresh fruit juices and fresh fruits, dried fruits, cereals, yoghurts, breads, jams, pastries, hams, cheeses....even a machine for boiling your own egg! Fortunately check out is late (we left at 11 but I believe it's OK to stay until 12noon).
This has definitely been our favourite place to stay in France so far and we very much look forward to returning again....and again.

We stayed at the hotel for one night en route to our move to Italy. The room was a good size with a stunning view of the vineyard and nearby chateau. It was very clean and had nice toiletries in the tasetful bathroom. We had ordered cold cuts for our arrival which we enjoyed with a lovely bottle of red wine out in the patio area which was peaceful and very scenic.
The owners were friendly and welcoming, with great service. They even emailed us following our stay as we had left behind our son's coat and they offered to send it on to us.
We didn't really have much time in the area as it was just a stop off but it seemed nice for a short visit or to explore the local wine region.
Breakfast was provided and offered a good selection. For dinner we went to the local restaurant (I can't remember the name of it but I think there is only really one in the town). The food was good but the service wasn't great.
Overall a nice stay at a lovely hotel. We are planning to stop here again when we drive back to the UK in September.

Half-way between Calais and South of France this is an ideal location for a stopover. Warm welcome from the owner who was helpful and speaks very good English. Our bedroom was on the third floor but the climb up the stairs was rewarded by a brilliant view over the vineyards to the Chateau Clos de Vougeot. The room was generously sized, clean, quiet and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was a delight and try as we might we could not do it full justice. The hotel does not do evening meals but there is an excellent restaurant just a short walk along the street - Le Clos de la Vouge. If the weather had been kinder we would have stayed for another night. We will certainly return to Vougeot next time we travel by car to the South of France.

We found the hotel through tripadvisor and were not disappointed. The welcome by the owner and his advice about the area was outstanding. It is in a quiet but interesting location without the brash buzz ot tourist hotspots but an interest in the production of good wine is beneficial as the hotel is on the edge of a huge vinyard. The breakfast was typically continental and one of the best we had over our three week stay in France. The hotel has an extensive cave with a good variety if wine. The owners own wine was very reasonably priced.
