“The place we were looking for in the Brittany”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2010

We are visiting the Brittany and look forward to finding a place where we could stay 2 or 3 days. The idea was a place in front of the sea, kinda isolated and where we did not have many things to do. This hotel is definetely the place. Besides they have different kind of body treatments as well as an indoor pool. It was worth it to have dinner in the hotel.

The only con was the breakfast. Do not expect too much.

They have complementary wi-fi.

Tip: if you stay in the hotel 3 nights, you'll only pay 2 nights + the breakfast of the third night.

“Enquiry about the hotel and dining room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

We went into the hotel to ask about the accommodation and the dining room menu. We were told in no uncertain terms that the hotel was fully booked, also the dining room. We could come back the next day and eat but were told that we could not look round, could not have a drink in the bar. Every thing was too much trouble for them. Extremely discourteous reception staff.

“Over priced, small rooms, nice setting but they could do a lot better.”

This hotel would represent excellent value if was at least one third less per night. The setting is lovely, the pool is nice but the down sides are the small rooms and the lack of indoor relaxing or 'living' space (just one room with a couple of sofas and a small bar). The management do their best to convince you to pay full board, meaning you'll eat at the hotel every night. Don't go for it - there is a nice Brasserie and Crepe place - the hotel own the Brasserie so you can charge it to your room. There is no mini-bar or tea making facilities in the rooms, there was a bottle of water in the room on arrival but they do not provide fresh water daily (well they didn't and we were paying E230 per night). Breakfast is not included - it's about E15pp - fruit, bread and cheese. This place has potential to be so much better - we wouldn't rush back.

“The pits.”

I am going to keep my review short. My wife and I stayed at this hotel earlier in the year, we were visiting family in Brittany and we left the kids with the grandparents and thought we would escape for a night.

The hotel was quiet, as in nobody staying. At first this seemed a good thing, but it soon became apparent why that was.

I have never written an official complaint to a hotel before, but I did after this stay. I then had to write to them again to ask if they got th efirst complaint. They confirmed they did. What was in the complaint?

Well, we arrived and could not check in, the room was not ready. There was nobody else staying, but the room was not ready. We had booked in to the Spa. However someone had called in ill, so that had to be rearranged. We suspected that the "illness" was more to do with the lack of customers. The spa itself was laughable. You sit in a bath with a few bubbles and a couple of flashing lights. Amazing. The dinner was of a very poor standard, but compared to the service it was incredible. I can not describe how bad the service and attitude was, they were cleaing up around our table at 21.45. We were, obviously, the only people in the restaurant. The problems got worse in the morning. 09.30, having a peacful breakfast ejoying the view, the local handyman then decided it was a good time to get on a ride on mower! We rang reception and asked if it was possible to stop the mowing whilst we finished breakfast. We were tod that was not possible. We left. We will never return and we would never recommend it. Really, this was the most terrible place we have ever stayed.

“Don't Book!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2009

Having sampled what are regarded a s leading hotels around the world we thought that the description of this hotel matched what we needed for a break closer to home. Positives are that it is in a very nice position (if not quite 'stunning'), the food is very good, although breakfasts lack variety over the week. On arrival we were shown to a terrace room with the sea view we had requested. The terrace was 'weathered' as were the loungers (without cushions); the sea view was a splendid view of the swimming pool roof. We were moved, very grudgingly to a slightly better view. At 333 euros per night we found the room to be just adequate although the bathroom was small and poorly finished. (The L'Occitane treatments advertised weren't there but replaced by cheap shower gel and shampoos!). There has been some good thought put into the New England styling but it has all been carried out shoddily. It would have been nice to have used the full wardrobe but the bedside cabinet prevented the door opening. The service in the restaurant was appalling. It was 25 minutes before anyine took notice of us. The arrogance of the waiter became quite amusing by the end of the week - but did take some of the impact away from the very good food. We booked 5 treatments each in the spa during the week. These were OK and the treatment rooms were new and quite good - but there was no relaxation area after the treatments and the gym that was advertised was a single multi-gym piece of equipment in the corner of the pool - so overall substandard. Overall this was a very disappointing stay -so if you do book , be prepared for an arrogant manner from most of the staff (if not all) and a hotel trying to box above its weight.
