We registered for the first time with TripAdvisor today expressly to praise this charming B&B. We found the other comment encouraging enough to give it a try and since our stay was perfect in every way felt we must let others know!

The owners (Bill and Carol) were most accomodating, patient, and helpful. They provided the inside scoop on local sights (Mont St Michel, Normandy beaches, Operation Cobra historic sites) and restaurants and helped us get where we were going. You won't meet more genuine and friendly people than Bill and Carol and we could likely have spent several more days just hearing all they had to say about the place.

They've done an incredible job restoring the 1860's farmstead over the past 5 years. The rooms were immaculate and comfortable; new and up-to-date without loosing the charm of the place. The bathrooms were clean and plenty of hot water in the shower for our family of 4. The breakfast was perfect.

We were there on a chilly and rainy weekend, but the grounds looked amazing. The setting is idyllic Normandy; greenest fields, catte in the pastures, stone fences and ancient hedgerows, tree lined streets, The gardens were lovely. One old barn was converted into a patio with a bar and game tables. We could only imaging the fun to be had there on a summer day with Bill at the tap.

We are far from intrepid travelers and had some reservations about staying in a country B&B so far from home, but this was one of the highlights of our trip to France (the kids talk more about it than Paris) and we would go back without a moments hesitation. If you don't stay there if you get the chance while you're in the area, it will be a mistake!

We had passed La Motte often during our visits to France and wondered what is was like as it looks a great property. We finally got our opportunity as where we normally stay was full. La Motte is located off a very busy road but dont let this put you of as it remains very peaceful. We were pleased to find the house lived up to our expectations and Carol and Bill were very good hosts. You have the option to either take b&b or stay in one of their adjoining gites. We stayed in one of the adjoining gites as this provided us with the flexibility we wanted. Our little boy Rufus had a fantastic time as Bill and Carols grand-daughter was staying so he had a partner in crime. We had a few meals at La Motte and thought the food was excellent along with being good value. We enjoyed staying at La Motte and look forward to our next trip there.
