We had arranged to stay at Chateau Julie (20kms outside of Bordeaux) as our first destination in France.
From the minute we arrived we were warmley welcomed by Renae and it was evident that hospitalty was not going to be an issue. The room was beautifully laid out and nothing was too much troube for them.
Our hosts (Renae and Rinze) were awesome. They offered excellent advice on where to go and what to see in the region.
The first night we hade the chateau to ourselves but were later joined by a lovely couple from the UK. A communal dining room is an excellent way to share your days experiences and swap stories about things to see or do in the coming days also. A visit for dinner to St Andres de Cubzac is a must - it gives the true French country village experince. Finding people that could speak English was a bit tricky but the locals were extremely accomodating (and it gave us a chance to test our limited French) Good options for dining.
The meals prepared by Ren (a master chef) back at the Chateau were world class and very french.
All in all I would say - gon visit Chateau Julie - you will love it!!
