“Charming Country Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Most pleasant hotel, restaurant set in lovely grounds. The dinner was creative and well prepared. The service was top notch. The hosts were accommodating and charming. Our room was quite comfortable and the bathroom had adequate space for a ladies necessities.
A local guest for dinner to celebrate told us they preferred this restaurant to the Michelin 1 star in the larger town nearby because it was much warmer and the staff more friendly.

We like hiking and there are several quiet lanes to walk on in the area.

There is a nice bistro in the village, also run by the owners, where you can get a light lunch.

I have great photos but couldn't get them on the review...

“Beautiful Country Hotel in the Perigold”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

This hotel and its restaurant were excellent. The location and the grounds are superb. The food and its presentation was excellent. The room was delightful. The only minor issue is that the internet did not work in the room but it was adequate in the grounds. We had an up graded room with a new full bathroom. It is always great to have separate shower. The staff were excellent and English was no problem.

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room above the owners suite in a separate building and we would recommend these r...

Beautiful location and setting. On arrival the reception could have been a bit more welcoming, personal and warm. Our room was great. Restaurant and meal were outstanding and the owner was welcoming, understanding and friendly.

“A little treasure in the middle of France”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

Unfortunately, we only stayed one night in the hotel - we used it as a stopover between Lyon and Biarritz on our travel to South. If I can, I definetely stay longer and enjoy the charm of the place, it's history, beautiful park, lake, food.
We arrived very late (our GPS behave badly in the rural areas :-)), but owner met and greet us, offer help and refreshments.
Next morning was a treasure - beautiful weather, peaceful surroundings, and extremly good and fully fresh breakfast.
It's not a place for someone looking for sterile hotel of a standard chain, but it's a place to discover for people who enjoy nature, history and charm.
Thank you, Marie Josee!

Room Tip: Room in the cottage is very lovery and in 2 levels

“Excellent Food, Great Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

This is a real treat for foodies. The restaurant is set in stunning grounds. We were staying in Coly and were advised to visit here. We had a 7 course meal which was chosen from 1 of 3 menus options if you wanted a 7 course meal. You could also choose from the menu a starter, main, desert if you so wished.

The aperitif was amazing. We were served a glazed tomato (the kind of glaze you get on a toffee apple). This worked really well and is something i havent tried before. The mango gazpacho was also delicious and very refreshing.

Moving onto the starter, we both opted for fish dishes. My partner had the prawn and I the salmon. Again, faultless. The between courses were very innovative. Fillet steak was our choice for the main. This was very tasty. The only gripe that I had was they didnt ask how we wanted our meat cooked. It was served medium which is a little too much for myself. Nonetheless, it was a very good offering.

A special mention for the cheese plate. As you would expect, there was lots of choice and the French know their cheeses. Absolutely divine.... Cheese heaven.

Fantastic wine... we opted for a 47 euro bottle which is quite a bit more than you would expect to pay given that the wine is great from nearby regions.

The service was excellent. The waitresses left enough time between courses and even asked how long we would like to wait. They were there when we needed them but out of sight when we didnt...... a great knack to have when serving.

It not cheap here but you wouldnt expect it to be. You pay for what you get when it comes to food and you certainly 'get it' here.
