This motel was very clean and had reasonable price. the staff was welcoming and very courteous. Being about a mile from the casino was a plus. I would stay there again.

Not sure why this motel is being dissed so much by other reviewers. Snobbism? Racism? I noticed at least a couple of disgruntled people claimed they were overcharged during a holiday or special event, even though the website clearly states they have higher rates during those times. Anyway, moving on...

The man at the front desk couldn't have been nicer when I dropped in, and by the way, his English was better than mine, just slightly accented. If people are so confounded by accents they really need to get out more. When I asked to see the room beforehand, he cordially showed it to me and when I thanked him, he told me he wished everybody would ask to see the room first.

Is this motel the Ritz? No. Is it quirky? Decidedly so. It's also clean and comfortable and has everything you could possibly need and nothing you don't, such as cheap wall art. Most importantly, the bed was unbelievably comfy such that I've never experienced in ANY hotel before, fancy or no. The icing on the cake: the price was very fair for the non-special event night that I stayed.

Just ignore that reviewer who made the bedbugs claim; that was an ignorant childish thing to say, especially with no anecdote to back it up. Sorta like saying EW COOTIES!

Our family of 3 came to Mt. Pleasant on a Saturday for the Annual Midwest Pow-Wow. The hotel cost was just shy of $100 for one night at this very "basic needs" motel: strike one. We arrive at 12:30 and are told to come back in 1 to 1&1/2 hours to allow them to clean and ready the room. We came back in 2 hours to find they are still cleaning our room. So we had to wait outside on the breezeway for 20 minutes with all our luggage and the cleaning cart while they finished:Strike 2. The next morning we left the hotel at 9:30 to meet family for breakfast next door at Bob Evans. A staff member was cleaning the room next door. We specifically told this staff member we would be back to check out. When we returned from breakfast, they had already begun cleaning our room! And we had yet to check out. We still had a couple belongings in the room: strike 3! The hotel staff must not understand what is required to be in the hospitality business. We had to wait longer than we were told to get access to our room, and then we are practically kicked out of our room before we even checked out. This place never once apologized or showed any concern about the inconvenience they placed upon us. But they have their money, and it looks like that's what matters most to the Chippewa Motel. We will not be making reservations here next year. I'd rather pay the extra and stay in a hotel that does not have rude staff and causes their guests multiple inconveniences. That is the last thing you want to deal with after you have traveled several hours. I would have been more forgiving had they shown an ounce of remorse for the inhospitable treatment. But no, nothing.

The guys at the Chippewa Motel saved our trip. We arrived in Mt. Pleasant late at night. We saw the Big sign MOTEL and pulled in. We were exhausted from our trip. Great price and a very relaxing night. We will be back...
