“Good, but probably better value available”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

Spotlessly clean to the point of almost being clinical. Lacks little atmosphere that would let one know that you were actually in Africa other than the hartebeest in the grounds.
I was part of a tour group and our evening meals were a barbecue style offering tastes of local bush meat such as kudu, springbok, and ostrich, though it was not particularly well cooked and probably not representative of the meats as it was tough.
On the positive side there is an interesting reptile area that is not heavily promoted or mentioned which clearly has a lot of TLC given to it. Probably the best part of the lodge.
Popular because it is right next to one of the four entrances to the Etosha National Park so saves a lot of driving at the beginning and end of the day.
Free Wi-fi and 2 terminals available with good speeds.

“Great base for exploring southern Etosha”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

We spent a couple of nights here to use as a base for exploring the southern side of the Etosha as we found the park camp too expensive for foreigners. I know it was out of season as everyone was in South Africa for the world cup but this huge hotel was nearly empty - it was spooky. The staff far out numbered the guests - having said that the staff were mega friendly some of the nicest we met in the whole of Namibia. The hotel was clean the rooms spotless although rather on the small side. The hotel grounds were lovely. The pool looked nice but it was a bit cold - wrong time of year. The food in the restauarant was excellent the only down side was the drinks in the bar were overpriced a shame really as it was quite a pleasant bar. We did take the time to visit the snake park at the hotel - we found it fascinating particularly as most of the snakes were caught locally. Great and very educational.

“Great Location & Fabulous Lodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

A long way from Windhoek but well worth the effort! Lodge situated about 20m from the Etosha gate so easy access, in your own car if you prefer, to the abundant game.
Booked a superior room but were upgraded to a suite on arrival. Suite rooms are magnificent with their own private gardens - ours was quite a walk from the main lodge and was visited by antelope, meercats and other small animals along with the ubiquitous squirrels.
Settled for the buffet style dining not a la carte - good standard and variety on offer at all meals.
Excellent game drives with knowledgeable rangers on offer morning and evening either into Etosha or around the lodge.
Spa fantastic with lots of options on offer including hot tub

“Excellent location and service, rooms need refurbishment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

Located just outside Etosha's Namutoni gate, beautiful lodge with beautifully cared for gardens. Excellent service and food. Rooms need some refurbishment.

“Terrible standard rooms - excellent suites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2010

At our arrival we were shocked by the standard room offered to us. As it is a Kempinski branded hotel we expected a minimum of elegance. But in the standard rooms it was not met at all. The rooms seem more to be like in a better backpacker hotel - but not "Kempinski like". (dark, small, old, hanging cupboard doors, noisy fridge, small windows, cigarette smell ... a cave) The webpage looks much better than the reality ...
After upgrading the room to a suite, we can't complain at all. The upgrade was done very quickly and without any "discussions".
The Suites are much better and we fully enjoyed our stay.

We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. It was ok. Many different things offered (maybe too many??).

All in all the lodge is perfectly situated for trips to the Etosha NP!
