Algeria is a beautiful country, but the hospitality industry is not yet well developed. Hotels can be an adventure, especially if you are traveling on a budget.
After staying in some questionable hotels in other cities, I was delighted at the reception and facilities of the Hôtel Frantz Fanon. This is a fairly new hotel, so there aren't many reviews of it yet. If you are planning a visit to Sétif, this should be your address. The rooms were clean, modern, air-conditioned, and very reasonable. Comfortable bed, nice work desk and chair, television, spacious closets, and the cleanest bathroom I saw in an Algerian hotel. (The housekeeping staff does a good job.) The staff was friendly and helpful, I immediately felt at home there. The manager was very kind and accommodating.
My room was on one of the upper floors, with a nice balcony and a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. I enjoyed the breakfast pastries, coffee, and juice in the pleasant restaurant area each morning. Wireless internet service is included. I didn't have my laptop with me, and was allowed to use a house computer in the lower level. The Frantz Fanon also has nice facilities if you need to organize meetings.
The location is fairly central but it might be tricky to locate when you first arrive. You will find it at the corner of Fida and Frantz Fanon Streets. One can easily explore the town center on foot from the hotel. Slept very well for three nights, enjoyed my room. I was traveling with a colleague who shares my positive assessment of this hotel. I look forward to my next visit!
