Our performing group was in Marquette to participate in an NMU concert series, and had the good fortune to be put up at this property. The rooms had been redone within the past year, and were both clean, comfortable, and easy on the eyes (strong, soothing colors, nice art on the walls). This property does an exceptional job of accomodating large groups (during our stay a couple of hockey teams and a lacrosse team passed through) and perpetual transients (business travelers and airline personnel) without any after-hours noise. The in-house restaurant does breakfast way above good. The staff treated us like royalty from check in to check out.
The pool/jacuzzi/sauna area is very dated and pretty tired looking. However, everything was clean; and, to their everlasting credit, the jacuzzi was boiling, the pool was temperate, and the sauna did its traditional work.
Marquette is a phenomenal place. It's got a thriving, fascinating downtown that's a gateway to myriad opportunities for recreation in every direction. The Ramada Inn of Marquette is worth considering as a home base here in "Da UP."
