“Great Stay, Great Value, Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Our performing group was in Marquette to participate in an NMU concert series, and had the good fortune to be put up at this property. The rooms had been redone within the past year, and were both clean, comfortable, and easy on the eyes (strong, soothing colors, nice art on the walls). This property does an exceptional job of accomodating large groups (during our stay a couple of hockey teams and a lacrosse team passed through) and perpetual transients (business travelers and airline personnel) without any after-hours noise. The in-house restaurant does breakfast way above good. The staff treated us like royalty from check in to check out.

The pool/jacuzzi/sauna area is very dated and pretty tired looking. However, everything was clean; and, to their everlasting credit, the jacuzzi was boiling, the pool was temperate, and the sauna did its traditional work.

Marquette is a phenomenal place. It's got a thriving, fascinating downtown that's a gateway to myriad opportunities for recreation in every direction. The Ramada Inn of Marquette is worth considering as a home base here in "Da UP."

Room Tip: Because we were a larger group, it would have been nice to have the option of connecting rooms. We w...

“Caught in a Storm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

I was driving some employees back from Lansing, MI and we got caught in a terrible storm. We ended up here and the place was very nice. The staff was very accommodating and even gave us a bit of a discount since we were displaced for the evening. The thing that was interesting is that the power was out, due to the storm, and the staff lead us to our rooms with flashlights. They are awesome!! I believe that credit should be given where credit is due and these folks went over and above to accommodate us!!!

Room Tip: First floor next to the pool is always best!!

“Terrible experience. Very rude employees”

Worst hotel experience of my life. Stayed here with my band-mates while we played at a local bar. Came back late in the evening to find that our keys did not work. when we questioned the front desk they told us we had been kicked out of our room because employees smelt marijuana near our room. They had called the cops and searched our room with dogs without our consent, only to find my herbal MEDICINE right next to my MEDICAL paperwork. However they still kicked us out of the room and forced us to sleep in a freezing cold truck... and even had the nerve to try and charge us a 250 fine for smoking in the room when they had no evidence to support the claim.

We need to be very sensitive to all of our guest in the hotel. While our employee was conducting a security check for the safety of all of our guest he noticed an odor of an illegal substance and contacted the athourities due to the fact it is illegal to smoke in Hotels and Restaurants in Michigan. The authorities responded and informed us of an illegal substance in the room but the proper papaer work was present for the substance. They stated they believed someone has smoked in the room, we followed procedures and asked the guest to leave because the guest did not have the funds to pay the fine. The guest returned the next morning and contacted our front desk manager who agreed to let them return to the hotel and we did not charge them the fine for smoking in the room.

“Visiting our NMU student”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

Large bathroom and very comfortable beds were a plus. We liked the pool and hot tub too. The location was very convenient to Northern Michigan University. We would definitely use this hotel again for future vists. It was a little weird that the hotel had seperate buildings which meant we had to go outside and cross the parking lot to get to the pool. Also the parking was pretty tight.

It is our pleasure to honor any requests that you have as well as to be able to give our guest who are traveling through our beautiful state a discount to enjoy what we enjoy every day. We are very proud of our property and the staff for the great job they do in the cleaning and up keep. Being located downtown allows us to give our guest one more opportunity to enjoy all the local shops, resturants and Lake Superior, which are all in walking distance. Thank you again for all of your kind comments. Please keep us in mind for your future travel plans.
