“For the most part, not a bad hotel, but the bed ruined it for me...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

I hate giving 2 stars unless a hotel really deserves it, and for the most part, this hotel doesn't. Reception staff were friendly and got me checked in right away. Room was nice and clean (except for a stray peanut on the floor that I stepped on... Good thing I'm not allergic!). The breakfast and dinner reception were decent, probably better than some that I have been to. The light in the bathroom made noise when it was turned on and the AC was a bit loud, but that I could deal with. What dropped my rating from 3 to 2 stars were the bed and pillows. Both were miserable, and I woke up feeling more tired than I was when I went to bed. They were so uncomfortable, I tossed and turned and woke up at least every 30 minutes both nights I stayed there. For that reason alone, I would not recommend this hotel and will not stay there again.

“A totally miserable experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

We stayed at this hotel for 9 days in June/2011. It was arranged through my company (a corporate relocation). What a totally miserable experience. I want to point out that the employees at this site are great. They are friendly, pleasant, professional, well trained. I just had a hard time with the physical plant and environment. Where do I start. As you drive to the main parking lot in back of the hotel you are greeted with two festering open dumpsters. They had large doors to hide them but these doors were never closed. There were mtiple, numerous and large open creators in the parking lot. It rained three times during my stay and the parking lot was a series of small lakes, strewn with chunks of drive wave rubble. You risk you life walking on this lot at night (an accident waiting to happen). This hotel should be ashamed for the shape of this parking lot. The rooms are advertised as having a full kitchen. The “full” kitchen consisted of a microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher , TWO stove top burners and NO oven. SO cooking any type of healthy meal is out. The dishwasher was not even property secured to the counter. Of course you then get the families of 4 or 5 squeezing into these small units and using these meager facilities to cook and then setting off the smoke alarms (the building was evacuated once during the 9 days I was there because of cooking smoke). The one bedroom suite I was in was so small; my dorm room in college was bigger. The small bedooom basically could just fit the queen sized bed. In a locked closet in the room was the HVAC unit, when it went off the room shook like I was in a 747. I didn’t get a wink of sleep for the entire 9 days I was there. The price is reasonable, so you get large families with numerous children booking a small one bedroom suite. This is fine (I love kids) but I was unfortunate enough to be on the first floor. The unit above me had small children. The ceilings are THIN. These kids ran around the room from 5am to 12 midnight and sometimes well into the early morning. This hotel is absolutely not the hotel for the business traveler. The "high speed" internet advertised was so slow I thought I was in the 80's again. The TV channels switched so slow, that when I finally got to the channel I wanted the show was usually over.

“My over charges on my credit card.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2011

I stayed at the Residence Inn in Livonia,MI on Fox Dr. My hotel stay was nice, I stayed for 2 nigahts. What I didn't like was that after you check in you had to go outside and drive tbuilding o were your room was at. All the rooms was in a different building than the ckeck inn desk. Upon checking in you needed a credit card for payment and they put a $50 dollar hold on top of the room charge for any extra you may use like pho or ordering moves. If you payed with cash than you needed a $200 dollar deposit so I paid with my card. When I went to check my card blance I found out they ran my card for an extra $30.00. When I brought it to their attention they was first trying to say they didn't run it for that amount but another worker seen it the day befor. I had to raise hell befor they agreed to give my deposit plus my extra $30.00 they ran my card for. I than told him I would like some compensation for the over charges on card. At first he didn't want to do anything until I kept on and he finally said he could take half price off one of my nights. You could tell he really didn't want to do it, and he had an attuided. So if you check in here with a credit card make sure you ckeck your blance after checking in to make sure you are not been over charged.

“Terrific value”

We stayed here while attending a wedding. Since we have a small dog we could not stay at the Marriott Courtyard - a restriction we welcomed when we arrived. Our studio suite was perfect, roomy, clean, had everything we could possibly want and the rates were very competitive. Our niece and her husband also stayed here on our recommendation. We would not hesitate to stay here again. We lovedit.

“Lock your car and get up early!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2009

Nice rooms, but staff has "attitude" towards Priceline customers. Saw this some at check-in, but even more when I called to ask why my room wasn't cleaned (when it should have been). I was told it was because the Do Not Disturb sign was on my door when the maid walked by, but to need that sign off the door by 10:30 on a weekend seems a bit much. The desk clerk then checked on my room and I got the "Oh, you're with Priceline, there's not much I can do for you" line.

Other problems: breakfast on weekends is only from 7-9 AM and hotel is not in a safe area as signs on the exterior doors told us on Saturday to not leave anything in the car as there had been an increase in robberies in the area.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience regarding your stay with us. I am so sorry to hear that you weren't pleased with your overall stay. Our intention is to never make a guest feel as if their business is not appreciated. We have since changed our breakfast times to 6:30 am to 9:30 am Monday through Friday and 7 to 10 am Saturday and Sunday. As for the desk clerk's response that you are with Priceline and we can't do much should have been handled differently. Unfortunatly, when booking through third party travel sites we lose much of the ability to compensate our guests as any credits given would go back to Priceline rather than the traveler.

Just a quick note on the safety of the area. We received a call from another hotel that morning saying that 3 cars had been broken into over night and we wanted to find a way to communicate to our guests not to leave valuables out in the open. I'm terrible sorry if that made you feel that we were in an unsafe area, but the safety and security of our guests is a top priority of ours. The note may have been a bit alarming it did prevent our guests from falling victim to a vehicle break unlike some of the guests at other hotels in the area.

Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to see you again the next time your travels bring you to the area.

Regards,
Matt Bennett
