This place really needs to be renovated, as stated by others. I am very glad I read the other reviews and knew what we were getting into before we arrived. Otherwise I would have been scared. Saying that the rooms are kept as clean as possible considering that everything is worn out. The bedding was newish and fine. The price was very good and for the area it was the best bet. We were visiting family and had to stay in this area. We are a family of four, two parents and two teen boys. The two bedroom suite set up is perfect for us. The boys have their own bed and bath and we have our own bed and bath, but we are still together. The kitchen hd a decent set up with almost everything you would need to cook, including wine glasses and cork screw. Other similiar hotels are often missing these type things. We will probably have to go back in a few weeks because of family illness and this is where we would stay again. Everything else, amenities, staff, food was great. Once the rooms are renoed it will be excellent.

Even though the hotel shows well from the exterior, there are a myriad of problems with the interior. Cracked bathroom tiles, squeaky doors. worn out and dirty furnishings - a collection of problems one does not wish to deal with during vacation. Staff says the upcoming renovations to the property as reported by other reviewers are now on hold. In the hotel industry, this usually means the property is up for sale or is in escrow. I couldn't recommend this RI to fellow travelers for many reasons but suffice it to say it's worth doing some planning and research to avoid an unpleasant experience here. Although Angela at the front office and Patricia, our housekeeper, were genuinely helpful employees, most of the employees spent the bulk of their time gossiping among themselves. Please don't stay here unless the company requires you to.

I recently travelled through this area, driving my truck & 5th wheel for the first time, and required a place to spend one night. I wanted a large parking lot to make sure of the ease of my arrival & departure. I ended up calling the Fairfield Inn first, and found out it was not possible to drive completely around the building. I did not make a reservation at that time, but called the next door property Residence Inn, inquiring as to whether I might be able to use part of their parking lot if necessary. They are both Marriott properties and share driveways. I spoke with a very nice gentleman on the front desk, and then asked to speak with the manager, to confirm that he had said it would be fine. She said that it was certainly okay if I needed to use their parking lot (it is possible to drive completely around their building), and also stated she would love to have me stay with them, but since I had spoken to the Fairfield Inn first (even though no reservation was made), that I should spend the night at their sister property, which I did. She was very kind and went out of her way to assure me that it would be fine to park my rig there overnight.
I realize this review may not assist you with actual facts about this property, but I felt the outstanding customer service offered by Angela (Manager of Residence Inn, Lansing West) deserved a shout out! Thank you for making my first night on the road in my new rig so much smoother for me! You can rest assured that the next time I find myself in Lansing, Michigan I'll be staying at the Residence Inn.

The hotel is showing its age and is worn a bit. However, they are great for a longer stay as the rooms have full kitchen. Larger than an average hotel room. They even have a grocery shopping service for you. The bed was okay and the bathroom was fairly clean. The free breakfast is fairly extensive with quite a few hot items. Had no problems.
